Tikka T1X MTR .22LR WAS on sale until Jan. 4, 2023

I have a lefty as well. It sits in a T3X CTR LH stock. just beware the bottom metal is a little wider on the CTR so some gaps are visible around the edges.

As for plastic mags I just ordered a Metal 15rnd mag for the T1x from NDr Shooting Supplies who manufactures them in Alberta. Not a site sponsor but they make some solid products I have a mag for my T3X that is currently my go to. I use it on my switch barrel rifle and run both 6.5 PRC and 6.5x55 Swede out of it.

So I am expect the T1X mag to be the same high quality.

I ordered one from NDR (Nelson) plus a metal mag for my T3X in 222. Have some of his mags for the 243/308 and they are great.

It's a tough job being a magazine for a rifle. Nobody is ever happy=too expensive, don't hold enough, don't feed right, not available, etc. etc.

Then you have the Tikka T1x mags which hold 10, feed right, are readily available and priced in-line with other mags. Leaves nothing to complain about except aesthetics. lol When these guns came out, I read one critic describe the mag as a "genital wart" which was memorable.

Great guns, and the best price I've seen. I'll be sharing that link.

Yup. My 3 T1X mags have burned through more than 10K rnds without issue or much for care. Can’t say that about many out there.

6 have sold, and I found another site selling it on sale as well. It's weird to think about the volume of guns sold in a single day.

Still on the fence....I'll probably forget to order it before bed but who knows. I do like that I can make a stock for it, and have a semi-niche market for any I decide to make/sell.

Edit: bank account is now 790$ lighter.

one of those attachable foreends tikka markets with a built in arca rail would be a hot ticket item. :D

While I have only had my T1X out once since buying it a month or so ago, the performance is amazing. So far I have done the following
- T3X recoil pad (had the slippery plastic factory one)
- Vertical grip insert
- MDT 20 MOA base
- Vortex viper pst 6-24x50

I have not had the time to do anything with it past a basic site in however, it was already showing near 1" groupings at 100 yards. I have a feeling I will get well under this with the right ammo.

As well, MK Machining makes mag extensions for the factory mag that can be set up to hold 12 or 14 rounds based on your preference. They work great.

I don't mind the fin, I grip it with my support hand like a mini vertical grip and find it helps counter the torque and keep the rifle steady while running the bolt.

Well, the sale is over now and their stock is down to 11 rifles.

That's 7 that sold in less than a day.

I wonder how many of my fellow Range Rats bought one after they read this thread?

Show of paws, I count at least two so far.

I waited a long time for a lefty to show up, and I managed to get it on sale. You damn righties got an even better deal than me.

I hope that you guys enjoy your rifles! I'm looking forward to getting mine set up and sighting it in.

Cheers!

Super easy and cheap to deal with the mag protrusion. I have never seen nor shot another factory bolt action .22 under 1000$ that is as consistently accurate with multiple different ammo types as the T1X. To say I've been blown away by the performance of my two is an understatement.

Nice rifle and that's good to hear!

I have a LH CZ 457 Varmint en route as I type this. I should have it by the end of the week.

I'll be able to take the Pepsi Challenge later this year and see what they're both capable of.

I just picked up a LH D.I.P. mount for my T1X and hopefully I'll be able to get a LH CZ 457 one soon, as well.

The owner told me that the lowest cant version is actually 5 MOA. Perfect for what I need as I don't plan on shooting past 100M with it.

He said that his 20 MOA bases will have problems hitting the target at 25M (or yards.) You'd have to hold under unless you have a lot of adjustment in your scope.

I'm happy to shoot from 25M to 100M with a .22LR, so that mount suits me just fine.

BTW, where did you get the cheek-riser and recoil pad for your stock?

Thanks for the info!

I'd like to see a T1X conversion that replaces the plastic triggerguard with a steel one that accepts the CZ 452/453/455/457 steel mags.

That way I wouldn't need to buy any more mags, as I already have lots of them.

I mentioned this to the owner of D.I.P. and he informed me that Steyr makes their Zephyr II .22LR with CZ mags.

They obviously know a good thing when they see it.

Love my T1X and all the 10 rounders. Yeah, they kinda look funny but being a Match Director and coach, I get to see things fail and drop and fzck up and jam and get stepped on….. :nest:

And I still love my T1x magazines, kinda remind me of Magpul mags.

Anyways back to the T1x, every one of my clients in my Adult and Junior programs love my T1x, so much so, everyone buys one and a second for their partner. No fzcking around with the T1x rigs. I get to see many rifles fail in the middle of a course of fire and Tikka rifles are the zhit!!

Even my wife loves the T1x… she just enjoys shooting from the prone position on to the steel KYL rack at 50 yards. Happy wife…..

Buy what works for you and your game, budget, tendencies, cool factor, and ego!

Cheers, Barney

More good info!

I'm glad to hear that they're so reliable and accurate!

Are you running them against CZ rimfires like the 452's and 457's?

^I've said basically the same thing ever since I got one. In fact, it's the more forgiving than ANY 22 I own or HAVE owned in the last 35+ years. Biggest surprise had to be the CCI Velocitor. I had the same box of that stuff for years, kept only for load testing. Ran some through on a whim, and wow... Fun to have a high-octane option. :)

Stranger still (and I have no theories on this) the POI difference between various ammo types @ 50 yards is very similar.

Good to hear!

I could probably do this once mine arrives!

Just FYI, you can quote multiple things in ONE post. You just posted 6 things in a row. If you're lazy, hit "reply with quote", write your response then select all -> cut and paste that text into your first post.

If you're more savvy, you can remove the photos and any unnecesary text to make it easier for everyone else to scroll through.

Are you a machinist? D.I.P. offers a nice looking replacement aluminum triggerguard, but I'd prefer that it were steel. If you could manufacture a similar one that utilizes CZ rimfire mags that would be awesome!

The CZ mags are at a different angle than the Tikka T1X mags, so it would be tricky even if the feed lips were a match. I'd definitely want one, though.

Thanks, but I already know that. I posted individual replies to make it easier for people to reply to my specific comment to them. Plus, I wanted to inundate this thread with a GIF of marching rodents.

I got you and mineguy as the only 100% confirmed purchasers after viewing this thread.

BTW, who was the other retailer with these on sale? I didn't see anyone that came close.

Its definitely a nicer looking rifle with the wood stock than the syn.

I run an Anschutz 64.

I'm not much of a fan of the Tikka synthetic stock either, but the only wood that I really like is hardwood laminate with a nutmeg finish.

I shot a friend's Anschutz Model 64 Silhouette about 20 years ago and it was probably the most accurate .22LR that I've ever shot, too.

My only complaint with it is that I could never find a left-handed one. Otherwise, it would probably be my main squeeze.
