Tikka T1x MTR First shots

I can shoot more rounds but if you overlay those three groups it would still be 1/2 inch. In a few days I will shoot some ten round groups with it in a laminated stock and the trigger set to 1lb

I'm impressed, plain and simple. Translation~not happy, I may need a new rifle. :)

Great shooting, especially if you're getting that in those conditions...with Federal?? Wow..

I just sold my Tikka. Very accurate, and starting to come in nicely. But with so many other guns that are already sorted, I sold it :( Did not need to sell per se, but I find myself shooting my single shot match rifles more and more these days.

I love CZs...and I'd take the Tikka over a 455/457. Would love to see the OP's rifle too!

Woah, woah! Hold your horses! Don't you know how the Tikka barrel is attached? I know how you shun the 455 method, so I'm really confused why you'd even consider what Tikka is doing... Avert your eyes

I wonder how long it will take till we see some aftermarket barrels. Scope clearance is the only thing that I'm concerned about down the road with a thicker barrel. Rings aren't cheap for a 34mm tube.

There already are aftermarket barrels available. Contact Lilja, Shilen, Benchmark, or your preferred company and buy a blank. Send it to your gunsmith who will chamber/crown it, turn down the shank to slip into the receiver, cut an extractor slot, then crank those 3 grub screws into it. Voila! Nobody is going to make a "drop in" for this.... would make no sense to sit on inventory. Too easy for a Smith to fit this rifle, buy a blank in the specs you want.

Anyway, looks like very serviceable accuracy with the hunting ammo there, 6mm Shooter.

Every time I look at that pic of the Tikka action I'm struck by the clean lines and top-notch finish, they took care building these rifles.

I know a rifle doesn't have to be a work of art in order to shoot well, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

I see that the first few inches of the barrel looks to be cradled in the receiver, with the front action screw just ahead of the barrel tenon.
I'd prefer a more positive barrel retention system than 90° set screws, but it is a .22, after all, not a raging 65,000 psi magnum rifle. And, there is always Loctite retaining compound for the paranoid among us.

I might have to contact Ted Gaillard and see if he can do something for me.

Wow, not even a flat on the bottom for the set screw. I guess it really doesn't if they shoot good, and the do, mine loves CCI SV in this cold weather, not to far behind is SK match.
