Tikka T1x Review

Just did a quick test with my Strike Eagle 4-24 x50 EBR-4
Leupold QRW2 rings, 30mm , gloss , Low (174073)
With the Bikini scope cover ( factory) on , there is at least 2 paper thickness of space . I don’t have the time to cinch them down properly yet but I can’t see much difference when done. I don’t think there would be enough space for flipup Butlers( none in my junk drawer)

Awesome thanks. That’s basically the same setup I have and couldn’t decide between .82” and 1” ring heights.

- T3 (not T3x) Hunter stock doesn’t fit, a small amount of wood removal is required for the mag well to fit in. Note above is a T3x Varmint stock, not T3 Varmint - This DOES NOT mean the T3 plastic stock won’t fit, I’m just pointing it out. I think it’s the wood stocks, both T3 and T3x, that require minor fitting, not T3 vs T3x stocks.

Just looking for clarification as I don't fully understand all the Tikka models and their difference.... Are you saying that any T3 wood stock 'should' work?

I received an email last week from Patrick saying my rail was going to ship on the 21st as well. Email from him on Monday saying they are expecting some 20 moa rails this week and mine should be sent out by Friday.

How much was shipping costing you? I'm wondering if it would be easier to do a group order from the states and then go from there. I am Going to be ordering one tomorrow and will be put in the waiting list as well.

The T3 Hunter (wood) stock will fit the T1X. A little bit of wood needs to be removed around the magazine well (which can be easily done in minutes with a Dremel and small drum sander) and a 1/8" diameter needs to be drilled about 1/4" deep behind the rear action screw hole to accommodate the "pin" on the bottom piece.

If I remember correctly the final cost was 60$ American. Going to Northern Ontario. Check later for accurate # 84.42$Canadian for 1 rail and shipping

The cost of the rail was $59 US to my door. SW Ontario as well. Looks like it was sent out a couple days ago.

Don't forget the Canadian Tax and $9.95 CAD 'processing fee'.

Mine will be here in a couple of hours with a $23.45 addition (note I ordered 2 rails, one for a T1x and another for a CZ455). I ordered 0 MOA rails - 7 days from order to delivery in BC Interior.

There was no tax or post office gouging. The value printed on the package was 49.95$ US. This was under the limit or customs likes me

I was going to order the base from Kinney and got told by some friends to stay away from the DIP and find a full rail. So I'm on the hunt for one of them now.

Nope leupold QRW but when I zeroed the scope with a bushnell boresighter I didn’t have to. The thing was right on ,never happened before

My concern is if the rear slots are perfectly aligned with the front slots. If your using two rings, then this doesn't need to be the case because you can individually move the ring to a slot. With a one piece mount, you're unable to do this.

That's the one that Kinney sells, I was told if a one piece mount may not line up. My intent is to use my Vortex Gen 2 on a one piece QD to swap it onto my Coyote.
Was looking at a design more like this.

I just want to make sure the holes aligned as if the picatinny continued all the way across that flat spot in the center.

Are you concerned that the slots or grooves on the rail won't be lined up between the rear of the rail and the front? It's a Picatinny rail, not a weaver rail. They line up. They were designed so that optical sights could be moved from one firearm equipped with a Picatinny rail to another with the same rail. It is irrelevant on a Picatinny rail whether the slots or grooves are interrupted over the loading/ejection area. The slot or groove spacing remains the same. The only difference in mounting rings on the DIP rail and the other Picatinny rail shown in the link in post #74 is if you wanted to mount a ring right over the loading and ejection area.
