What type of accuracy could one expect from a T3 Lite stainless in .223 cal?

I dont have a 223 in a lite but i have a 222, T3 it shoots .5s-6s with varmint loads and .3s-4s with with 52 g smks.
I have shot better groups with it, but thats on average. Only had it for a year and theres not 150s throught it so really, it may do better if i spend some time on it, but FOIP its a good shooting firearm.

Jeff can shoot mine under MOA, but I just got the gun free floated as the stock was tight up by the swivel stud so going to take it out in the morning and shoot some groups at 100 and 200 yds... I will post pic's for you.

Both my T3's, 300 WSM and 25-06 have shot around .75 without much effort. I would expect around the same or better with handloads in .223

I have one. First time I took it out and with a crappy rest I got a 3 shot group at 100 yards with all 3 shots touching. And that was with Winchester factory 45 Gr. JHP!

thats 7 rounds of 30-06 from TWO different shooters.

you can expect the same/better. Yeah I shot the flyer :'(

just got back from the range and with winchester white box 45gr JHP (advertised 3600 fps) I am getting 3 shot groups of an inch, at 200 yds I am getting 3 shot groups of 1.5".... BUT at 100 it is 2 toucing and one flyer, at 200 yds they are spread out uniformly but still well within a 2" inch square.

ballistically I was 1/2" high at 100.... and 2.25" low at 200yds..... figure my max effective range will be 250 with a spine hold on coyote.

don;t have a chrony so am unsure of exactlly what velocity was, but one thing I did notice and it is because it IS a light barreled hunting gun, remember that. it is not a heavy barrel varmit gun that 50-60 shots can be fired with no problem in stringing.

So I fired 45 rounds total, near the end I fired 24 rounds for groups pretty much as fast as I could load and fire, and notcied that the gun likes to start stringing vertically, and go left...... I just had the barrel free floated and can now slide a piece of paper from muzzle to scope with no rub, even when hot so it is not that as an issue.... not that big of an issue, the POI moved approx 1 inch up and 1 inch left.

I personally think I was expecting to much when expecting it to stay stable during rapid fire, it is a "light" varmit gun the way I have it set up.... it is meant to fire 1-3 shoots , kill the varmit and then move one.

Rifle is a Tikka T3 Lite, stainless / synthetic in a left hand mdl chambered in .223.... have 3 spare mags for it and they all function fine. only mods to it are talley LW rings/bases, leupold 4-12x40mm LR duplex VX-2 Scope, and a Harris Benchrest Bipod.

tikkas have the same barrels as a sako they realy do shoot very well
lets hope it stays that way and berreta lets the finlanders make the rifles

Yup... the barrels made by Sako/Tikka are probably some of the best Factory barrels in the world today.
I have shot dozens of Tikka's and Sako's and I have never fired any that would not shoot sub MOA accuracy!
I am equally impressed with the Benelli "Crio Barrels" After shooting half a dozen of the R-1's in various calibers and seeing the same accuracy as the Sako and Tikka's I just had to buy one.

Thanks for the post. What do you think the ballistics would be if you were shooting 1 inch high at 100 yards?

well I just went to winchesters site and they have it listed as dead on at 100, -2.3 at 200 and -10.1 at 300.

which is close enough to what my gun does at the 100, 200 yd line so thats what I am going to trust...

I have this exact rifle, and I'm not that good of a shot. I shot .75 once at 100yds using factory ammo, and right around an inch most 3 shot groups. It is EASY to shoot just over an inch.

These targets are from a year ago (don't have any newer pics) when I was just coming to grips with the gun. I am a better shot than this now. My brother shoots it even better than I do.

I have a few boxes of 52 and 53 grain Hornady match HPs to load. The 1-8 twist shouldn't make a difference when the bullets are lighter, or does it?

I tried 69gr Factory Federal Gold match ammo and they shot horrible, thats the only experience I have with heavy bullets. I want to reload some heavier bullets when I get into it.
