just got back from the range and with winchester white box 45gr JHP (advertised 3600 fps) I am getting 3 shot groups of an inch, at 200 yds I am getting 3 shot groups of 1.5".... BUT at 100 it is 2 toucing and one flyer, at 200 yds they are spread out uniformly but still well within a 2" inch square.
ballistically I was 1/2" high at 100.... and 2.25" low at 200yds..... figure my max effective range will be 250 with a spine hold on coyote.
don;t have a chrony so am unsure of exactlly what velocity was, but one thing I did notice and it is because it IS a light barreled hunting gun, remember that. it is not a heavy barrel varmit gun that 50-60 shots can be fired with no problem in stringing.
So I fired 45 rounds total, near the end I fired 24 rounds for groups pretty much as fast as I could load and fire, and notcied that the gun likes to start stringing vertically, and go left...... I just had the barrel free floated and can now slide a piece of paper from muzzle to scope with no rub, even when hot so it is not that as an issue.... not that big of an issue, the POI moved approx 1 inch up and 1 inch left.
I personally think I was expecting to much when expecting it to stay stable during rapid fire, it is a "light" varmit gun the way I have it set up.... it is meant to fire 1-3 shoots , kill the varmit and then move one.
Rifle is a Tikka T3 Lite, stainless / synthetic in a left hand mdl chambered in .223.... have 3 spare mags for it and they all function fine. only mods to it are talley LW rings/bases, leupold 4-12x40mm LR duplex VX-2 Scope, and a Harris Benchrest Bipod.
