Talley and Warne are both great options, as they make them specific to fit the Tikka dove tail. I have used both on mine and they both work awesome, never had a problem with either. Talley are available in extra low, so that might be the way to go for you. One thing I do want to mention is that while it is a good idea to have your scope sit low, as your friend suggested, you don't want it too low to the point in which it is uncomfortable to shoulder the rifle and look through the scope. I suggest going to a local shop and getting them to dry fit the scope for you, so that you can make sure the scope is at a height where you can keep your head in a comfortable position when shooting, rather than having to press your cheek into the stock just to get a full picture in the scope.
