From what i've seen they shoot very well (I dont own one) The ownle concern would be to talk to a warrenty smith & see how parts are & how often they are needed. Again I do not know if its good news or bad, but would check. AJ
Tikka T3 Lite, good gun?

I got a T3 Lite in SS 300 WSM. Very accurate, nice to port around all day. The lighter rifle recoil is not really too bad when hunting, never notice it when hunting. On the bench, the recoil can be a tad noticeable but then the accuracy is nice.
Highly recommend it. It has become my go to rifle for hunting. With my 165 grn TSX handloads, very versatile. You can hunt all the game you listed.

I love my Tikka.... I have a T-3 Lite Stainless in .223
Only problem I have had was breaking the bolt shroud off the gun. I actually like the look of the gun better without it anyways... Go figure...
Gotta love that smooth action, like silk. AND the trigger breaks nicely, unlike my Rem 700 in .204... I swear its a got to be like a 110 lb pull on that thing.

If you call Stoeger Canada at (905) 436-9077 they will likely send you a replacement bolt shroud for free.... had the same thing happen to me and they sent me a new one within a few days.
Sounds like Dwight is up to his tricks again. He likes running over them with a truck too but hunts with an older model. Too much plastic for him too.
I can't say that I even like my T3 that much, but it shoots and works so well that I can forgive it. Kinda, sorta.

I bought a T3 lite in .270 WSM syn/blued last weekend, finally got to put some rounds through it this morning at the range. Very happy with the groupings and results. Dont know know some guys complain about the recoil, its nothing compared to my sako in .375.
I noticed with the factory loads the barrel heated up quite a bit more since its a magnum, had to let it cool down more. I love the weight and how it looks, I even love how the stock looks and it fits like a glove. I cant wait to go back and put some more rounds through it. I had to leave early but my last two rounds were dead center almost through the same hole at 100 yards.

The closest I can come to putting it into words is that it feels likes a toy. I don't know why.
I've got one in 300wsm for moose and I see myself holding onto this gun for quite sometime! A dream to carry all day with it being as light as it is. I don't have the thickest shoulders, but a Sims Limbsaver is a good investment and you're not overly fond of recoil when at the bench. Absolutely love the bolt on it, takes no effort whatsoever to get that thing to slide! Couldn't be happier with mine!

I also know for a fact that when you hunt with any Tikka or Sako product the animals will just align themselves in your sights and beg to be shot, for they know that your ultra superior, Uber-designed european piece of kit is too much for them!!!

My best friend and hunting partner purchased his this year and he is happy with it, although he has yet to hunt with it. I have held and inspected one only and it seemed well built with a smooth operating bolt. There is too much Polymer on that firearm for my personal taste, and without CRF I probably won't own one. IMHO I think you can't go wrong with a Tikka.

I have a t3 lite in 7mm mag with a Luepold scope and it is one of the slickest guns ive ever used. The ease of operation and the ease of a quick alignment are amazing. With a limbsaver the recoil is not at all bad. Again, it is sooooo slick the bolt is so smooth and it just begs to fly to your shoulder to be shot. This has increased my accuracy on quck shots. For the money I am amazed. My distances arent like most here but it has made me reach out farther with confidence.

Nothing really all that wrong with them, just don't really turn my crank compared with some other designs. Even if the other designs/makes can use a little work 'out of the box'. IE: bedding, floating, trigger.......... I kinda like the 'tinkering' anyways.

Well if you can get around the looks, lol! and imagin a high grade walnut stock on it lol! you will be fine.
They do make a real ugly wood stock for them if you want to go that way too!!!!
Hey NO ONE ever said they were pretty. I dont mine the look, but it took a few years to get used to plastic vs wood.
I am sold on the performance and handling of these rifles, so much that i have most of my hunting calibers chambered in T-3s. I shoot them quite a bit and have yet to have an issue or a failure in any form, and i must say accuracy has been verf consistant from hunting rifle to hunting rifle. They are also very predictable on freezing cold or frying pan hot shots in barrel temp. For some reason Sako/Tikka, or should i say Beretta have it figures out, POI in my Tikkas does not change at 100 yards from -20 to +30 and as I say with a hot barrel , POI does not move.
For 600.00 you just can not go wrongf with a T-3, they are what they are, love them or hate them they shoot.

I don't really like the stock and plastic bits, but they are really good for the money. My brother has one in .338 WM and the recoil is stout as they are light and the recoil pads on them are not very good. The other downside, in my opinion, is that you don't have too much choice with bases and rings.
Out of the calibers you note I would choose the .300 Win Mag. I've had really good luck with it and have a friend who has used it exclusively for over 20 years on Grizzly, Sheep, Goats, Elk, Moose and Deer. Having said that, I would take the .338 over any of the 3 you mentioned. It shoots flat and hits hard. It is also comforting when you need to hump through grizzly country with a load of sheep meat on your pack board.
BTW: IMO a .30-06 do anything for you that the .270 can't, so I don't really see it as a good "in between" (.270 and .338) round.
