Hello all,

Considering buying a Tikka T3x CTR, I handled one at my LGS today and liked the feel of it. Seems like a good lightweight .308 for the price. Does anyone have experience with these rifles? I'm rather smitten with it.

I have one in .308 and it is extremely accurate. A tad heavier than a hunting rifle but still light enough to carry around without getting tired. Oh and did I mention that it's accurate? If have to dig out a target pic but I'm very happy with mine.

A mag comes with it , I've never lost one . I love mine decent price for the features if you like the 10 shot mag and the heavier barrel which I do . I find the short barrel length makes it very handy . And VERY accurate!

Yeah, I'm the kind of guy who likes spare mags. I'd be buying at least two for that rifle.
Interested to hear more stories though, I like what I'm hearing about the accuracy. Anyone got pics of their setup?

I have the older 2015 model in .308 and really like it. Accuracy with factory ammo has been outstanding, so much so, that I have bought new equipment for more precision reloading.

With Hornady 178gr hpbt match it has stayed under 1 moa out to 475 yds.

As for the cost of magazines, the high cost of the TRG compatible ones could be attributed to Finnish laws and tariffs for weapons of war (the TRG is marketed as a sniper rifle). Tikka has introduced a new magazine specifically for the CTR that will be significantly cheaper, the difference being it has a plastic boot the will not allow it to be used in the TRG without modification.

The improvements Tikka has made to the new line are right on the money as far as mods people have been doing themselves.
When the 6.5 Creedmore models start showing up, I will be purchasing one.

I had one and it was amazing, I just did;t use it enough so I sold it for what I pad. Great gun though, I would 100% recommend!!

Where did you hear that they will be making one in 6.5 Creedmoor?

There was a pre-order page on the Tikka Performance site, but I just went to retrieve the page and found the link was dead.
Judging from the overwhelming response they got, they have probably got the order quota filled and then some.

IIRC These were going to be factory produced, not just a re-barrel.

What's the difference between the tikka t3x ctr and the regular tikka ctr?
Is it just newer?

They addressed some of the common complaints around the original T3. They replaced the plastic bolt shroud with a metal one, widened the ejection port, put a better recoil pad on it and put a foam insert in the synthetic stocks to reduce noise. They also now have modular grips that you can switch out, based on your preference. The new CTR has more of a target style grip.
