Tikka Tactical = ripoff?

like everyone is saying, if you like how it looks and feels, buy it! You dont have to worry about whether or not the rifle will shoot good. I have never heard of a Tikka that was a bad shooter...but if you like the Remingtons and being able to customize then get a remington...
It is really all what you like, after all it is your money!

enjoy your new tikka;) hahahaha

For what it's worth.........I was speaking to the good people at Sierra the other day (in this case "the other day" means about 5 months ago) and the fellow told me that they currently recommend three makes of rifles to their customers for "out of the box accuracy". I forget the the third one (it was European though....please pardon the brain fart) but the ones I remembered were Tikka and Savage. I don't think the accuracy of Tikka rifles was really questioned in this thread, but I thought it was an interesting little tidbit.

Cheers

Would a TRG 42 .338 lapua be an upgrade over a Tikka tacticall 300 win mag?

Well, from what I've read (see, more internet speculation!!) the TRG is a very competitive rifle in 300m competition (obviously not in .338 Lapua though). From what I've seen at my local range (sample size of 1) the TRG shoots very well (in 308 Win). Would the TRG in .338 Lapua be an upgrade vs. the Tikka in 300 Win Mag? I don't know. I don't think that I would want either of them to be honest......at least not in those calibers. If punching paper at long range, the 260 Rem has a very similar trajectory compared to the 300 with the 190 MTK bullet (actually it's even slightly better).

So there you have it. Random thoughts with no answer. Typical, eh?

Thrid... CZ?

Could have been. I honestly can't remember (sorry). I know how much folks love the Rem 700, so I was a little surprised when he didn't include the 700 in the list.

I got to handle one of these recently for the first time. I'm sure they shoot well, but how are these rifles worth $1700+tax? :runaway:

am I missing something? they *should* sell for $1100-1200

Ahhh...my old army buddy Bartell sharing the love on this site as well.....well, at least I know how you feel about my Tik Tac.....the truth comes out....lol

I had one in a 300 WM and thought it was great it would shoot cheep factory ammo good and hand loads great. I thought it was the ticket until I shot a TRG-22 so I sold it and ordered a Sako. Waited and waited for it to come in but no luck so I bought a H-S Precision. I would buy another one, if you are into walking around they are light to carry.

Actually Tikka Varmint stainless price have gone down a hundred dollar compare to Rem700PSS.

Tikka varmint Stainless : $900
REM700PSS : $1100

If you want Tikka I'd go with the Varmint. It's identical to the Tactical except for a few minor details;

Doesn't come with weaver rail. Did you really want a 0 MOA rail anyway?
It's stainless. That's a bonus in my books
Cheekpiece is non adjustable
Muzzle not threaded
It can be had in any caliber you can think of, compared to only .223, .308 and .300 Win mag for the Tactical

It costs about $500 less than the Tactical, which IMO is worth it. The Tactical I think is overpriced, the Varmint not really.
