Def buy the CTR Brake. Noticable improvement in groups for me vs unbraked, and my reloads were single digit SD. FWIW. Some don't like brakes (me among them) but I could not argue the results.
congrats on the 24". I debated 20 or 24 as well, and glad I went 24. Rifle balances well, looks the business. Short barrels on some rifles look great, and others not so much.
I don't need or want a brake. .355" at 100m for five shots. My average five shot group is sub 1/2moa.

I just picked up a CTR in .308. I would have to double check but I believe the manual mentions not to mess with the pic rail factory mounted onto receiver.
Any .308 users out there with recommended bullet weight/manufacturers?
Ctr is a more viable gun of the two.
Hello everyone,
Just ordered the Tikka T3x Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor. 23.7 " barrel SS. Should be in my hands in two weeks.
There is a sale on the Bushnells right now which will make it $200 less that the retail price. The long term plan is to put the gun in a different stock if I like target shooting. If not, I have an easy to carry and easy to use gun that didn't cost me a fortune.
I agree the mags are crappy but the new stock will give me a ton of options. The heavy barrel and not having to order a stainless CTR from the states is the main reason I went down the road I did. Plus with Corlane's 20 minutes from my door step the gun can be whatever I want it to be.
