Let's set some rules.

1) Only K98k rifles manufactured in the Third Reich period allowed.
2) Nazi-era conversions of VZ24 or Gew98 rifles to K98k pattern are allowed and encouraged!
3) Post a photo of the rifle, a photo of the receiver code and post a description for each rifle shown.
4) Group photos are allowed and encouraged.
5) Post-war reworks are NOT allowed. This means No Yugo or Russian reworks, no East-German Reworks, no Mitchell's Mausers, you get the idea. Legit third reich depot builds and reworks are OK though.

This should be fun! Let's see what some of the nicer K98k's held by members look like! :)

Sadly I suggest no postwar reworks.
It will just end up a hodgepodge of refurbs.
I'm interested in seeing correct examples of what's help in canada.

I'll go first. All rifles have original period-correct slings, original sight hoods (where applicable), original cleaning rods, original lock screws.

1) byf41 (Mauser Oberndorf) Portuguese Contract K98k. All matching. This is one of the rifles that was actually delivered to Portugal, never used, and sold unissued in Canada around 20 years ago. Much of the production was later seized and pressed into Heer service during the 1941 rifle shortage.

2) ce43 (JP Sauer Und Sohn) K98k. All matching vet bring-back. Not duffle cut.

I have a few other K98's, but none of those meet the "criteria".

Well, I can still drool anyways! Nice, very nice, Gentlemen! Was my passion for many years!!

As a James River rifles fan, i respect the members choice but i have a German K98 JRA with my name on it and i'll be proud to shoot it at the range... JP.

Good choice :)

whatever it costs, the price/quality ratio is so much higher than one of the beat up and sloppy RC K98s.

No guys go ahead and fire up.

JRA makes a fine rifle and nobody is begrudging that, but the purpose of the thread is to showcase untouched originals meant for collecting. It's not meant to make people with fine shooting rifles feel any less for their choices. I for one have several K98k's I shoot, the ones posted here don't get shot - they are too valuable to risk breaking a matching part.

Now who will be next to post a few pics of awesome original rifles?

Ok, here are my matching originals I've collected so far. There are 2 more on the way and I'll update this thread when they arrive.

First one is a byf 41 Luftwaffe. All matching except the safety.

Lol, only you Jeremy would buy a rifle sight unseen. Lol. At least we know the source is good. Nice pics. I should reshoot mine, most of my pics blow.
