I'll listen for the whining between the nay-sayers scrambling for my casings.

I'm already picturing it mentally something like Smeegold,"Precious,,, .308 my precious,,,".
 
It is funny that everyone is willing to pay the price!! The reality is that not everyone is prepared to pay the PRICE. For some this gun is the best thing since sliced bread. I have had first hand experience with the SA80 and love the bullpup configuration. The question I have to ask myself is, do I want to pay a $1000 premium on the going US price. Does the rifle have the value in it. The answer at this point is NO for me. What happens when Kel-tec start selling this in a calibre that is not restricted for export, with a 24 inch barrel. When I can import it myself for $125.
I wish vault all the best and I am sure these will sell like hot cakes. If the first shipment does not sell out on pre-order then one of two things have happened, it is priced beyond what the market will bare or it has not been marketed well enough. Either way the long term viability of the product will be in doubt.
I want to see this product do well, I can easily afford the $2500. I'm not in the gun import business, so I have no idea what Vault has paid, I find it amusing that vault has effectively paid for the export developement of Kel-tecs product. If Kel-tec had sense, they would be building these themselves for export to any country that could legally import them. They now have a weapon system that they can export with the US state departments blessing. If Vault paid for all of that then Kel-tec got a great deal. If Vault is prepared to pay for the .308 molds then kel-tec is getting an even better deal, if Canadian consumers are willing to pay for the global export development of the RFB then both Vault and Kel-tec got a good deal.
This rifle can now be exported to anywhere in the world it is legal, before it could not.
 
If you don't want to spend your money on an RFB, fine. For me 2500$ is worth it for anon restricted 308 bullpup. I don't get where the whining is coming from. How much is a restricted AR10 going for?

What about a Springfield m1a? FAL(oh yeah they're worthless because most of us cant even own one and those who can can't even take it to the range).
 
For the record I might yet break down an buy one at the $2500 price point. Because often desire overcomes rationality. As can be seen from many internet forum posts.
I still want to thank Vault for bringing this weapon in. I might wait for the second round as it sounds like they might be in a cleaner state.
 
Glad you bought up the M1A, seems to go for between $1300 -$1500 on gunbroker for new.
Wolveriine sells it for between $2000-2200.

They're manufacturing the barrels, that takes care of chamber and stamping.

Hopefully the su16 is closer to msrp, and lessons are learned.
The rfb is still a little high, even at msrp, but for a non-res bulpup 308... we'll see after I pay off a couple loans.
 
I won't be shelling out the $2500 for a Bullpup .308. However, I am really interested in a SU16, if the price tag is around the price of a Mini-14 .

If the SU16 becomes available to us Canucks for around the $700 price range, then I would imagine that everyone who owns a CZ858, AR-15, or even the guys who own a SKS would be trying to find a way of adding a SU16 to the gun safe.

A SU16 would make a pretty sweet plinker/varmint rifle. It would probably be the best thing, aside from the AR-15 becoming a Non Restricted rifle.

Id have to disagree with that one! Having actually handled it, I would take the Mini 14 over this thing any day all day!

I sure hope so... I wanna be the first kid on my block with an RFB!!!!!

OZZ - you don't want one, you think it's a ripoff... We get it! They'll sell out, we'll all have one, and you'll be jealous. HA! ;)
 
So, is there a list going? How many RFB units are coming into the country?

$2500 for a .308 non-restricted bull-pup is a steal. You can whine all you want about the US vs. Canada price discrepancies but it won't change the reality of firearms prices and availability in our country.

It is what it is and I will take two if I can get my hand on them.

I just can't afford .308 in a gun like that! Doesnt make sense for CQB type stuff. Too much recoil, and too expensive to send as many rounds down range as I know I would!

Why no .223? Damn you Keltec.

You assume wrong, as is usually the problem with assumptions. You remember what ASSUME means, right?

I'm using mine for hunting. That, and the occasional 3-gun match. Apparently there are "heavy weapons" classes in most of the 3-gun matches where you need a .45 pistol and a 30cal or greater rifle. An RFB would be the ultimate Canadian 3-gun rifle.

This gun will replace my M14, which I now use as a hunting/MBR.

For me, it is everything a rifle should be. Short and compact, shoots a powerful round, is semi-auto with a high capacity magazine(for the day when the rules change, one way or another) , is reliable (by the sounds of it), easy to strip and clean, is built to take optics (and if you prefer something small, a reflex sight would do) and it is very appealing to my sense of beauty.

Can you imagine going in the bush with it? You can have it in your back pack until you need to bring it out. Then once it's out, it can be on a sling, close to your chest, without interfering with your hiking/marching. With a quick release sling, it can be brought on target within 2-3 seconds and even a big grizzly would be easily taken care off, with all those .308 rounds on tap.

I personally don't envision myself leading any sort of guerrilla war, even if TSHTF and the wildest scenarios imaginable come to pass. My firearms are for hunting and defense and this rifle meets both criteria.

I was planning on getting a M14 but since it's taking so long for the shipment to come, I'll move some of my dollars over to the RFB. I can't wait for it to arrive. Hopefully Vault will provide a list of the dealers soon.
