I think it's an excellent choice by the Provincial Gov't. Instead of letting hell break loose, then chasing it, they're learned from others' mistakes (Texas, et al), and are saying 'Let's nip this in the bud".
Fortunately for us, if you want to look at it this way, we have a lot of predators here that like squeal meat. I'm sure they have contributed to keeping the feral pig population in check.
A griz is about the only predator in that area that is capable of taking out a full grown sow or boar...
If you're looking to hunt, the Mayerthorpe area has a little bit of a problem as does the sundre area...
