Tips for hunting wild boar? (BC)

I think it's an excellent choice by the Provincial Gov't. Instead of letting hell break loose, then chasing it, they're learned from others' mistakes (Texas, et al), and are saying 'Let's nip this in the bud".
Fortunately for us, if you want to look at it this way, we have a lot of predators here that like squeal meat. I'm sure they have contributed to keeping the feral pig population in check.

A griz is about the only predator in that area that is capable of taking out a full grown sow or boar...

If you're looking to hunt, the Mayerthorpe area has a little bit of a problem as does the sundre area...

I'm more curious as to why you chose Kamloops for an area to hunt.
Have you heard from some reliable sources of Wild Boar or Feral Hogs that have escaped the truck to the slaughter house in the area?
The link I posted shows of some alleged sightings with a kill in BC recently.
I have seen pictures of a couple escapees in the Nazco area of BC from 4 years ago and was stoked to head up and try my luck, unfortunately that week two foot of snow fell and I decided against it.
There was a farm way back in the boonies up there that was ''off grid'' and was at one time a ''Pig Farm'' and possibly the ones I speak of are offspring ?
Not trying to dissuade you... ;)
I love the smell of bacon in the morning !

I've watched wolves eat wild wood bison, many times, an animal that goes over 2,000 pounds and is a hell of a lot tougher and meaner than even the nastiest, biggest boars. Wolves will have a heyday on pigs, thankfully.

I chose Kamloops because I like it out there and the land can be very open. I'm definitely taking suggestions :)

Thanks for the info and I love bacon in the morning also!

drift1122, nothing wrong with being in the great out of doors.
Doesnt matter whether one is packing a rifle or a camera, but if Wild Pork is the game I would want to be in the area where they roamed.
I'm glad you didnt feel like I was busting your chops over your choice of destination, but I was/am trying to figure out the choice of game for the destination you chose.
Make sure you have pics should you connect with Piggie.
Best Regards,
Rob

Aye. Wolves are pack animals that hunt in groups. It doesn't matter how big the prey is when there is 6 or 7 wolves all trying to eat it.

And I dont think pigs are going to be outrunning wolves either. Or a cougar for that matter. 200 pounds of angry kitty? No thanks.

So it seems this is a problem in Saskatchewan, and expanding into Alberta/Manitoba too? I would think the rocky mountains must make a pretty good natural boundary to resist movement westward from Alberta?

Pigs have been here for awhile. My father inlaw shot one about 15 years ago in the Columbia Valley area just outside of Chilliwack. Apparently there was a farmer in Sumas who let his stock go.
