TNW or jr carbine?

I've had 2 JRCs (sold one unfired) a couple Kel-Tec Sub-2000's and a CX4. The JRC's are ok, but too heavy and the long barrel and short hand guard look goofy. The TNW looks even worse to me. The Glock S2K was a POS jamomatic, the firing pin almost missed the primer and the safety was loose. Also took Vault a looong time too replace it under warranty. I sold the replacement unfired. I have a Beretta mag S2K now and it's rock solid reliable with all factory ammo and all my handloads right down to 95gr. cast boolit cat sneeze loads. It's a keeper. My favorite has become the CX4 though. The sights are certainly better than the S2k, they're really not that bad. I did install a Vortex Sparc though. It's super fun and accurate plus it shoots all the ammo the S2K does even better. Also has a chrome lined barrel so durability should never be an issue. Sure, Beretta mags at Cabela's are expensive but hey, who on CGN buys them at Cabela's anyway when we have Northern Republic Magazine as a site sponsor and also Canadian Safety Source has cheap mags as well. Both sell Mec-Gar which are just as reliable as OEM Beretta mags. Apparently Mec-Gar was the supplier for Beretta OEM mags at one point so they certainly know their stuff. And at $36.99 each, why not?

I bought mine at P&D in Edmonton, and they had some Pro Mag magazines there for around that 35 dollar range, vs the 80 bucks for the Beretta ones. Only downside to the ProMag ones is they don't have holes in the side of the mag to see how many rounds are in it. The spring isn't as stiff in the PRoMag ones, compared to the factory Beretta ones, which makes them easier to load.

Depending on your budget, Kriss Vector. I have shot a buddys and it was awesome, reliable and zero recoil.
takes glock mags and comes non restricted, I see them on the EE sometimes for south of $2000.

I have only noticed the 5 colors. Tiger green and pink are pretty obvious. Then black, OD green, and dark earth (what i think looks tan)........are you trying to make things harder for me saying there is yet another color to choose from?

Also to point out we bought my daughter an extra glocken mag to go along with the KCI one that comes in the box and use both equally, so no difference there so far. Might have to check a 40 out for the heck of it. Most of the ammo has been American eagle but also did one box of 50 blazers. We tossed a vortex sparc II on it and left the one that was included in the box. shoots great out to 50 yards.

5 colors is what i thought based from their website. But then ive come across this color aswell... which looks different, and by my definition, would describe as "dark earth"

But it sounds like "dark earth" is the tan color, and that is what i'll keep my eye out for on the market :)

I shot 200 rounds through the CX-4, trying to convince myself i needed it. Couldn't get around the chunky thick hand grip and fore end. I don't have monster meat hooks, so grip is important to me.
I borrowed my friends JRC 9mm zombie wacker to try it out and ran 100 rounds of hand loads through it, no troubles at all, easily upgradeable with AR parts, cheap KCI glock mags work superbly.
Ended up buying a used JRC and have since been shooting the hell out of it using various factory as well as hand loads with cast lead. First installation was the Take down tube, much nicer to hang onto, i'm not a vertical foregrip guy as it seems to get hung up while walking though the bush way too easily. I like the fact that it can be taken down and packed away in a small package.
It is surprisingly accurate for what it is, haven't had any failures at all and have passed 700 rounds in the last month.
With a 30 year old aimpoint it can hit moment of muskrat at 100 meters quite easily, moment of beaver out to 150!
It is easy to clean if you have any skills at all.

Hey love that......that is how I tend to shoot.

I saw the take down JRC and the fore grip has a thicker shroud than on the TNW which is nice for your hand I will admit. On the TNW you would be gripping the barrel directly. Not a fan of the vertical grips myself, but I tried one out on the TNW and it feels better than just gripping that short little stubby section.......really I think either or make a great fun little gun, and we can shoot them whenever and wherever we want just makes them that much sweeter.

Seems like some jrc's are lemons. Some people on here have great experiences with them and no jams, but other people have jamming issues.

Seems to be the case with almost all new guns released these days .
My JR took some tuning up to get it to work correctly but it was an early one .
No issues now but it would not be my first choice in a defense situation.

Did you just have to polish some parts or was there a different issue?

I had to do a little modification to the bolt face because JR can't send bolts to Canada .
Did the mod as per their instructions & they did send me some updated small parts free of charge .
They have the best customer support I have ever dealt with .
Too bad they didn't iron out the bugs before they released them.

Do you think the newer ones will have any problems?

UPDATE: Just wanted to give our followers an update on the testing of new calibers for our Survival Rifle and Pistol. In the last couple days we have had some successful tests in .22 LR, 10mm, and .357 SIG. We still don't have a time frame for availability but tests are going very well. Check back here at the end of summer for more updates.

From TNW Facebook page.

Picked up a TNW, 9mm.
200-300+ rds and counting. Zero problems
Picked up 3 more of the cheap mags it comes with. Again zero issues.
I put a cheap red dot on it and having fun with clays and 6" plates at 25/50 yards

Serial numbers JR015000 TO JR016391 (Gen.1) are eligible for upgrades. From what I've heard if you have problems with these JR will replace with Gen.2 receiver no-charge.
