to brake or not to brake a target rifle eh

Best advice is to always to double up your hearing protection. I shoot 300 win mag with brake at the range most of the time. I made a lots of friend since I let them fired my rifle, 99 % percent of them who are hunter convinced that brake is really a good investment after fired my rifle. Only time when people who really hate me the most when sight in my scope at 25 yard, I only took one shoot though.

Maybe it's a level of sensitivity I guess. Cause honestly with my peltors I'm listening to people shoot the breeze and everytime rifles go off next to me I don't even notice it at all. Yes I do feel the concussion smack me in the face. But I can shoot through it without too much issue. I don't double up either. I take my peltors off after and I don't have any sensitivity after a whole day of guns going off. Everyone is different I guess. Even to the fully auto. I have seen police at the range many times. Ok I'm maybe 20' away or more. But still these are all AR with brakes and 5-6 of them banging away at same time. I don't notice the noise at all. Maybe I'm already deaf. This could be the answer.

Everyone is different, indeed. I can't shoot if the guy beside me has a certain kind of brake. It isn't the noise for me, it is the wind/concussion that pushes at me and moves paper around, I just sit and wait until it is over.
My Peltor Presidents weren't very good, so I got some (much better) Howard Leight L3, and double up.

What he said, I also use Peltor soundtrap and my experience is the same. I only have a small single chamber brake on my rifle and nobody ever complains or moves away from me.
