TO Insert a cartridge or not....?

Hoyt........I believe everyone has the right to think and raise their children in any belief system they choose, in fact I would fight to the death to uphold this principal of our society. We obviously disagree on where talk of a ###ual nature is appropriate.....I happen to disagree with the sheltering of children from discussing what is the most natural of human activity. However I respect your opinion and your right to express it, and I do agree somewhat that this is a questionable venue for such a discussion and word play.

Sorry, Douglas... but my opinion on this particular thread has nothing to do with morality... ask those that know me, my humour is far more "out there" than anything posted here. This is all about a proper "time & place." I really enjoy shooting sports, and I would like my grandchildren to enjoy it too... as a community, we better start shifting gears... this "good ole' boy" stuff just doesn't fly in the new world... like it or not it is counterproductive to the greater good.

You put it better than I Hoyt, but you worded my thoughts almost exactly.
I work on various drilling rigs in SE Sask. I can tell the dirtiest jokes, recant ribald stories about loose women and visits to the drunk tank like none other...all at work.
NSFW pretty much doesn't exist in my world. But when I leave that world; I leave the sketchy stuff in the Doghouse.
I don't feel the need to 'Get my manliness on' at hunt camp or a Bachelor party. Or online ( for the most part...I'm sure someone could bust me over something ) either.
If my mother, GF or daughter can't read my words with being a tad disappointed...well, I better not put them forth.
So, I'm a 'Stick in the mud' on a public forum.
Morally the posts are alright, but IMO innuendo gets greasy fast...not my thing.
If you are having fun, well keep on I suppose
Ciao

Hoyt, wow! This is getting borderline preachy. I don't see you going out of your way to be welcoming to new shooters here sooo....

Women know guys are pigs by the time they're halfway through highschool. Why would this shock them?

Nothing "preachy" about it... if you want to continue to be "cdn shooter" you better wake up to the new world... shooting sports and firearms ownership is under attack in Canada... like it or not decisions regarding these is likely to be determined by popular vote, we need to learn to be inclusive and create an environmemt that is welcoming to new participants. One of the primary segments for growth is with women. Anyone can appreciate a play on words, but overt pictures and comments in an area where members come to talk about "sporting arms" is not productive.

As for my welcoming new participants to the sport, it is likely that I have done more than most, having spent the past three plus decades acting as a "gratis" guide to dozens of newcomers, initiating mentor programs, not to mention facilitating the outdoor carreers of dozens of friends of my kids and nephews and nieces... many of whom are getting their own children into the field now.

Like it or not, things are changing in the world, it is in our own best interest to not "dig in our heels" on some issues... pick our fights wisely. The biggest issue in my mind is one of numbers... simply put we need more participants, ergo, it is unwise to marginalize any group... particularly 50% of the population.

All of the above is my opinion.

Yes it's a public forum but the content of this thread is plainly visible from the first post. So if you're offended after choosing to click through 9 pages of it then well I guess you chose to be offended? It's a long way from talking shop at grandmas dinner table is what I'm getting at.

As for this type of thing being harmfull to the ownership of firearms...really? The internet was an idea when the bans started. What was it then, offending "letters to the editor" in the local paper? Or was it ###ual ads in the gun rags? The kind of people that want our guns ALSO want every last one of us emasculated. Looks like their plan is working on some of you.

Some people aren't going to get it until its too late... I've said my piece here. You folks enjoy your day.

Emasculated? This sort of thing is a yardstick for proving masculinity in your world?
Some folks think standing up on women's behalf & saying " Stop being greasy " might be a better indication of manhood.
But if making lascivious comments is the proof of manhood in your world...then yuck it up.

Every realistic normal Woman knows that boys will be boys, admiring a beautiful women is in a man's DNA, jokes are funny and not meant to demean. I have a 26 year old daughter and lovely wife who would probably just roll their eyes at this add and the comments but not be truly offended. Our world has gone far too pc IMHO.

I think you guys are missing the point here and are being very short sighted. Shooting sports, firearms ownership and hunting are all under attack. Can we really afford to marginalize and/or dismiss half of the population? This is not about whether or not a model in a picture "deserves" these comments, it is about creating the space where women can be comfortable and feel included in the camaraderie in a safe and respectful manner. CGN is a public forum, we have and need female members... as many as we can get... and we need women and kids to get involved in hunting and shooting sports. Do you think threads and commemts like these help or hurt that cause? You can say you "don't give a rats azz" now, but we'll check back in 20 years from now.

What kind of threads do you think are posted in the woman's only forum? There's no men only forum. Me thinks that's counter productive in an equal society. Feminism is not about inclusion or equal rights. It killed chivalry and created a political and social slide to lower standards for women.
This is the Internet you're always going to find ppl easily offended. Even by the name of the site. Oh look a group of crazy nuts who love guns

BMW used ads similar using both male and female models. Some of the members here should write off ever owning a BMW. It doesn't take a degree in business to know that ### sells
Maybe your time (no one in particular) who finds attractive women in advertising disturbing should lobby the up coming Detroit Auto Show because it's a prime example
A little closer to "home"...try shot show. How many companies hire young attractive models? Oh the horror of a media show attractive women and gun owners all together the haters are going to hate
Women are the fastest and largest growing segment of the shooting sports currently. Which is awesome. A thread in good humor about an add isn't going to stop that trend
