Tokarev 9mm conversion kit

Nice to know .Not surprised .I seen other non-flattering business behaviours from them over the years. I wanted a 9mm barrel so it is what it is.I don't buy enough from them to care.

lever had the conversion kits for $140 for years. two years ago, i had a 9mm barrel which i sold for $100 when i bought a whole 9mm pistol M213 for $250 but now with the pistol ban, you can only buy part or conversion kits thus the big increase.

The price of most gun things has gone up significantly, Lever recently had the kits listed as sold out. So no surprise that the new batch has gone up in price.

I mean just look at the price of factory 9mm and .45auto.

I'll probably get the kit to try it, but what's the benefit of the conversion?

The price of 7.62x25 is slightly lower than 9mm (or a lot lower if you want to get surplus) and it isn't in short supply. I can't imagine it'll make the Tokarev that much more accurate either.

Weirdly enough it’s easier and in most cases cheaper for me personally to buy a bunch of 9mm reloading components and ship em to my house than shipping a bunch of .25 surplus or otherwise, local shops (2hr drive) ran out of .25 months ago

The barrel didn't like feeble loads like the CCI 115gr Blaser aluminum cased ammo 50% FFT/eject. Nato hardball ran flawlessly. As well shooting 9mm in 7.62 mags were unreliable in a new Polish Tokarev .I'm thinking +P loads are the way to go in 9mm in these guns.

Odd, I’ve shot my friends with his mid weight handloads and factory blazer and they all loaded/ejected and went bang. Was in a chicom tt though.

Could be, I haven’t had time to try mine but we’ll see what it does with handloads and some factory blazer and win white box. Mines a post war russian so pretty nice shape/condition, as I’d expect a Polish TT to be.

I've only shot factory loads through mine and there weren't any failures to feed or eject.

The 7.62x25 is actually quite a hot round. It generates just over 36k psi in its standard issue load. The 9x19 Nato load has a maximum of 36k psi but is loaded to around 34k psi.

If your handloads are lower and you aren't gripping the pistol firmly, with a locked wrist, it's very possible you might be getting failures to feed/eject.

I think I'll stick to the 7.62 as it's never failed to fire. Was never in love with the 9mm anyways.

I don't blame you for that.

The 9x19 can be effective and has proven its capability for over a century.

So has the 7.62x25, which is actually a pretty decent round.

It seems the American shooters like its performance so much they had to build their own version which has almost identical power, the 30 Super Carry and their chambering it as a "NEW HOT CARTRIDGE" in Model 1911 style pistols. If it flies, it will likely be offered in the plastic types as well.

I could see it becoming a regular side arm for police

I messed about with them. Used to get bbls, links and mags out of North Dakota real cheap. Used to flip the Norc 9's over to 7.62. Seems like the bbl bushings gave me grief, but one instance there was a casting viod inside the bbl bushing. That's just shoddy quality control. Funny because Norc made these in a 7.62 platform...one would think the quality would be very comparable?
You couldn't flip a loaded round clear of the ejection port ( 23 mm is a touch long for a pistol in a 19mm length cartridge), but it would just jump the ejector and end up in your slide hand anyhow.
A range officer would be unhappy with that..but tipping the ejection port to the bottom and curling your fingers around it to catch the live round always made sense to me anyhow.
