Over the winter I tinker with guns.
I put this type 54 china Tokarev together with a bunch of spare Parts.

I blinged it up a little. Polished the slide and Re blued the frame.
Nothing matches.

so I headed to the range with my winter collection of guns to try out.
I was Expecting NOTHING from this mismatched parts gun.

It was the last gun I tried out. My metal 9x8 targets were still out at the 50 yard mark.
I figured what the heck ...I'll take a couple shots for fun. I was NOT expecting to hit anything at that distance.
So I put the sites Dead On....pulled the trgger and Wham, the target Flew. I shot at the other 2 tagets and Wam a direct hit. I laughed silently to my self....Ya gotta be kidding me. I have had some really nice guns that couldnt match the accuaracy of this little Tok.
What a nice Surprise.!!

the only reason I polished the slide was because it had surface rust & scatches, LOL
I did the Mag Floor as well.

I polished a turd
I am very surprised with the Trigger....nice Clean break.
Did not have File or adjust the sites, they were spot on.
 
A wicked accurate load is Starline brass/Win SP primer/86gr SP or 90grHP/13gr Win 296 @ 15 yards benched all in a quarter with my Polish Tok
 
I printed a ragged one hole group at 15m the first time I fired a TT-33, just a plain Russian surplus gun and ammo. Had me convinced to buy my own. They are an inherently accurate gun mostly due to the nature of the cartridge. Some guys say they are garbage but worn out/crappy guns and shooters that can't deal with the grip angle are usually to blame. A lot of low quality or poorly stored surplus ammunition out there as well.

yup...they really bend them up good. Have to weld up the holes sometimes too.

I should have used these heavy plates instead.
the hole in the plate is from a 223 round. oops

I think the tokarev is a very under rated pistol for sure. Good accuracy,..stout cartridge.
they are very robust, simple as sh1t to work on and lots of spare parts around and CHEAP to buy.

Don't think most body armour will stop them either? I have a LEE 93gr mold I use for 7.62x39 I should try a few in my Tok

Some countries set their standard for LE soft armor at defeating x25. The spicier loads will defeat NIJ 3A at decent ranges more often than not.
 
at 25 yards the tok round will zip right through my mild steel targets. the 9mm will dent them.
I'm generaly ok at 50 but it still leaves craters, LOL

I ordered a couple different styles from Amazon. I ended up buying some custom wood beavertail grips from a guy in Hungary though. If you have some $$ to spend that guy will make any style you desire.
