Hey guys
just wondering who here uses their tokarev t33 as a main pistol, meaning range visits and such..
I just ordered a ncstar vest and trying to decide which pistol will be used on it ..now keep in mind all my pistols are sa and still in the market for a 9mm sa/da that will eventually take its place as main shooter but for now I need to add to my equipment then start looking at new firearms ( well maybe )...lol
anyways advise and what are you using
thanks
Glenn.

I have a Russian one, perfect function but can't hit anything with it. I have a Polish one and it is freaking awesome. Shoots great, nicely finished, accurate even with cheap surplus ammo. For $250, it's the one of the best deals out there. Plus it sounds like a cannon, and sometimes sparks come out, if that's your thing.

Have you guys ever tried it in any holsters ?
I have a serpa for my 1911 and since its based off a 1911 design it goes in and clicks but loose... looking for a similar holster for it

Had same problem with a Beretta 92 Holster, if you could get more pressure around the trigger guard it would ride securely tho.

Not like a Serpa but pistol specific options.

Get better (more hand filling) grips for the gun and shoot it with with two hands, paint the front sight white and use modern ammo and you will be surprised!!! The gun is NOT a bad one, just take some time to get good with. Remember it IS an almost 75 year old mass produced design that only cost you $200 all in...and most the ones we own are 60+ years old. The corrosive surplus ammo which works but is not the "best" is also DIRT cheap for LOTS of practice.

ALSO make sure you've cleaned out ALL the cosmoline out of the gun!!!

Once you get good with it, take it out and stretch the legs of the little hotty 7.62x25 round, it is good "long range" pistol round being that it si bottle necked and packed with a good amount of powder. I can hit human silhouettes at 100 yards 7-8 times out of 10 is I focus.

These are awesome grips, little $$$ and the wait time is a little long but it will turn your TT-33 into a new gun!!!

i love the feedback on the tt33. i am still waiting on my PAL/RPAL, but my first purchase will be a tok or two. i already purchased the holster from interammo. looks and feels of good quality, cant wait to see how the fit is.
oh how i love waiting for our licence.... NOT

If a T33 is all you have, nobody will say anything. Unless you try to use one for club level matches. Target pistols they ain't.
I wouldn't worry too much about holsters as an FNG. You very likely won't be allowed to use one at your club without the IPSC/IDPA black badge course anyway. A Tokarev isn't even close to a 1911's dimensions, but a large pistol Uncle Mike's should do. Or make one.
Just remember that shooting is fun and shoot what you have. "I want one." is reason enough to buy anything.

Isn't it the Tok that's a little dangerous to holster condition 1 or 2? I think I remember reading something to the effect that Russian officers soon learned not to try and holster one with a round chambered.

i finally received my rpal a while back and just yesterday took posession of my first handgun, a 1945 tokarev. the holster from interammo for the tok is a perfect glove fit. i did get the holster with the strap, but the tok fits so nice and tight, the strap is not needed at all. sits nice on the belt and pretty easy to get the tok out and into shooting position. couldnt hit paper at 25 yards yesterday, after some research, i found out it probably shoots about a foot high at that distance as they are factory sighted at 100 meters. back to the range i go with a BIG target to see if it groups ok. i also have a new and slightly tighter than original barrel bushing installed now, so i hope to be able to get a decent grouping.
all in all, the tok makes a loud, and i mean LOUD bang, but the kick is nowhere near as bad as i expected. its actually a pleasant shooter. the kick lets you know you are shooting a powerful gun, but wont break nor even strain your wrist. i am thinking of picking up a second one, just because i can .
now as for cheap ammo, it is getting harder to find at cheap cheap prices, and many online dealers seem to be out of stock. but the smaller local shops seem to have quite a bit in stock still and the price is bearable at $14 per 70 rounds or around $500/case

I bought a set of Tokgypt grips for a Tok on ebay. Only cost $29. These fill my larger size hands perfectly.

I used a Polish Tok to shoot a CQB match. With surplus ammo is hot very well. The gun was unmodified, except for some skateboard tape on the front and back of the grip frame.

I think I just stuck it in a plastic 1911 holster. Good enough for CQB, but I am not much of a runner and jumper. If I was, it could pop out. In this picture you can see the pistol and how I carried the pistol mags.

Where's a good place to pick up a polish tt33? All I ever see is the Russian ones listed online, I keep hearing how much better the polish ones are. A tt33 is on my to buy list.
