tokarev t33 a main pistol?

^^^Oh yeah, it sucks but it's not going to stop me from buying one. Going to join an outdoor range in the new year and that will be a consideration of where I decide to join.

I didn't even realize there were holster options outside of Ol'Leathery:

It's a fun gun to shoot. Although I don't know if I'm communist enough to make it my go to handgun ;)

I seen a fellow use one this summer at a 3-gun match. I kinda chuckled to myself till he started shooting. He was dam good with it. Practice, practice, practice.

I'm suppized that your allowed to use it at a 3 gun match. I would be hesitate about carring a round in the chameber with the TT-33, something it might go off if struck hard enough.

It was the only handgun I ever owned.
I owned it for almost 4 years and shot it every trip out to a range.
It was reliably accurate, extremely reliable and extremely cheap to feed and in a nice powerful cartridge.
Easy to clean, easy to use, goes bang every time and it's literally one of the cheapest guns you can buy in Canada at the moment.
You would be crazy not to buy one lol
I'm moving up to the Makarov actually and selling mine. I've done everything I can do with it but don't regret it for a second.
It's a great gun.
Also FYI it does have a safety, it has a half #### safety at the hammer to carry one in the chamber which I always did on the range. Good enough for Communist Russia? Good enough for this guy!

I discovered that safety the hard way. Once on, you can't do anything with the gun. Slide locks, nothing moves.... except the hammer!!

Managed to put one on safe at the range with a round in the chamber. No one at the range could figure how to get the round out. Ended up limping home with a loaded gun.

Should be called a nill #### as it's no half #### visually.

I have a bunch of pistols, but I did get two Tokarevs and a sportowy. the trigger is heavy, but the ammo is cheap, so I have gotten loads of practice with them, and they shoot just like a 1911 to me. I have run one in a few defensive pistol matches and had a great time doing it.

hey guys
well to follow up still haven't decided, for now I'm using a simple holster that came with my ncstar vest holds it ok and won't fall out.
regarding clubs and steel core ammo Urban Tactical in Brantford allows it to be shot
I was there last wednesday and tested out my mew mags for it only thing is after a few mags fed it it would jam with slide half back and round not fully loaded so alittle picky
I'm waiting for someone to upload photos and review the new pistol that canada ammo has that shoots this type of ammo

well
I'm mainly using it when I go to the range...four mags and it shoots great except for the feed jamming thing..
wish it fit my hands better like a 1911 or so...
still I like shooting it as ammo is so cheep
I'll practice more with it unloaded with some drills and see how I do

my tokarev misfeeds half the time(slide doesnt close, have to push on it to close), and it shoots 4 inches at 25 foot.

I'm probably keeping it just as a collection item, not shooting it anymore, it just sucks.

Seriously, get something reliable, and if you are broke, at least get a norinco pistol or something that works.

well before I purchase another handgun I have to make a choice on what direction
I like the price of the surplus ammo so shooting this type of ammo is my first choice....target shooting only for sport
trying to decide on what 9mm to go with some thing not too high on price tag say under $500 but magazine prices are a game changer

If you really want one, I will sell you two pistols I own for cheap

my tokarev, plus the ammo, plus my norinco .22 colt woodsman replica.
half the price I paid or something like that.
shot only 200 rounds or so through mine.

Best not to dry fire it without a snap cap or spent brass in the chamber. The firing pin's easily broken on an empty chamber.

thank you for the offer but I'm ok for now I already have norico M93 for wifey to shoot

I don't dry fire any of my guns I have snap caps in them at all times even asked at club once when I was showing my 1911 to another guy he asked why do I have snap cap in it and I replied better safe then sorry if dry fire happens on and off at least I don't damage anything over time..
with my tokerav though I always lower the hammer don't have caps so either spent casing or I don't dry fire

What is with guys and issues with the TT33?
I put well over 1500 rounds of cruddy old surplus ammo through mine, it never had a single stoppage.
Even though it's a cheap gun, you still have to oil it and I used to put a bit of grease on the slide and receiver rails after I scrubbed her down from a range trip.

What's wrong with a 4" group from a handgun at 25 meters? If I was putting 8 rounds from a magazine out of any handgun into a 4" circle standing at 25 meters I'd pack up my s**t and end the day on a high note. And I shoot a lot.

The TT33 is an awesome gun, simple, reliable, powerfull, dirt cheap to buy and dirt cheap to feed. It saw the Soviet military through 25 or so years of hard wars and the satelite countries through many many more.

If you want a fancy gun you fawn over and take pictures of how pristine it is, buy a glock. I think it's just another case of Canadian gun owners buying something and expecting it to be something it never was or is going to be as many of us do all the time with our market. But that's just my opinion.
