Payment & Tools

Hi Hungry,

I just saw this thread about the clinic, and I'd like to go but I gotta check my work schedule for Jan. Anyway, if I can attend how do I get the payment of 35 dollars to you. I don't know what EMT means. Secondly I don't have many tools on hand, so what would be absolutely essential for the clinic.

Thanks

I just held one a couple months ago! The bare essentials are you and your boomstick... thats it! A pen and paper would be 2nd best. Any other tools you can bring is the icing.

EMT means Electronic Money Transfer. Most major banks; when you sign into your online banking, allow you to send an electronic money transfer to someones email address. PM Hungry, there are 1000 different way's you can work out the $35 I'm sure.

Hello all,

My lovely wife just got me an M14 for Christmas, either she really loves me, or she wants something really expensive...lmao......anyway, i live in Northern Ont. - Manitoulin Island actually, are there any workshops in my area that you know of, and if not, may i take part in yours, and if so, can i pay when i show, or is the payment required ahead of time?

cheers

Hungry here: We just held a Sudbury Clinic in September a few months ago. As you may have read, on the 17th of Jan, we are doing a clinic in Barrie, Ont. Come on down for the weekend. That's what you get when you live on the most beautiful part of Ontario (Hey, I'm from BC and I'm still getting used to this flat province after 24 years of living here)

Okay, we are getting closer and closer. Remember to bring your lunch(es) and snacks since restaurants are quite far away (another 10-15 kliks into Los Angus or Barrie's Dunlop Street).

I'm bringing lots of 8 thou thick stainless steel shim material (bought with your fees) so that you guys can knock out a few for your rifle if it needs the shims and even if it does not, keep a few on hand for bailing your friends out of trouble.

Regarding the syringes for sale, I have not received them yet, so I'm kinda shzt out of luck to get you fellas those $ 2.00 curved tip 12 mL syringes that I have been importing by the dozens in the past. BUT (big but) I have just ordered a bunch and they should be here on the 12th of Jan (we'll keep you posted right here) and I'll be mindful to update this information because you can buy them at Lee Valley Tools (city dwellers are luckier) for $ 2.75ish or $ 2.00 from ME, filled with GREASE Already!! Howzat for a deal? No other forum on this CGNutz site has this level of help/support/cameraderie/community. Greentips was a visionary when he asked me to be your humble moderator on the CGNutz board. ;)

TTFN,
Barney

Any more last minute notes, are gonna be posted right here.

Cheers,
Barney

I'd love to go but getting up there is an issue.
Earliest GO bus gets there at 10:20.
I'm in Toronto.
I'd be more than willing to fork over 20$ for gas.

olegs69: I'm sure someone can give you a boost up to Barrie. Now here's the best part.... I'm working on a February Burlington Club M14 Clinic also that we are still waiting on (cementing down the date). Cross yer fingers! :D

Okay, back to the Barrie Clinic.... We are working on the finishing touches for arranging a welder for the clinic. More details to follow. Remember... I ain't a welder... I just bring the gas cylinder assembly to the Welding Shop here in town and along with a few large double-double's to smooth things over! ;)

Looks like I might have to cap things at 30 people, we are getting all kinds of responses.

More good news, some other CGN M14 lovers are working on a FEB clinic for the Burlington club and also a Spring clinic for EESA (all depends on cementing the date down). So there is an advantage to living in Bantario, Banada after all.... I'm friggin' stuck here!! :D And I can't return out West for a few more years!!

More rambling: While I'm busy tonight processing a whack of inbound EMT's, I'm finding out that we have a bunch of 2nd time (read: repeat) attendees. Wow!! This is soooo cool having several people want to come back because of the previous fun at their first M14 clinic. All positive feelings ! :D

Everything works out ;)

I have my welding ticket and have a rather large MIG welder at home. I don't imagine that will suffice for the welding required (as you stated TIG in the initial post)?

If it will work, I may be able to bring it. It's about 300lbs and requires 220V 40A service though!

Hungry Here: Don't worry, we've got one being set up already on the Friday night (inside a garage, propane heater, etc). Busta Capp and John M. are dilligent about getting the welder operation happening.

Two quick questions:

a. Is anyone heading up from Toronto who'd be able to offer a ride for this car-deprived citizen of Mayor Miller's socialist republic?

b. I have a few M14s that need their barrels indexed. I presume that's a first priority before the other accurizing tweaks, especially since they'll be used with open sights for the forseeable future, and I don't have access to a barrel vise. Will it be possible to fix the indexing at this clinic?

Hungry here: Are you certain we even need to re-index? I'll give you a 2nd opinion there. If we can get a heavy enough vise, sure thing. If we cannot, then I'll have you come and visit me in Collingwood and we can carry out re-barreling mischief in my basement like other CGNutters have done in the past. That's the one advantage of living in South and Central Bantario, I've got yer back! It will just cost you a Kelsey's steak! :D

With Regards,

Frank

Barney,

Is there any word yet on whether there will be a vice to index barrels with?

If there is, I'll start begging more profusely for a ride..... and send you the money.

Regards,

Frank

So far, we have not got access to a heavy enough vise to do some re-indexing and re-barreling, but not to worry I'm only 45 farther away from the GTA in Collingwood, so some of you with the more complex problems will have to drive up and visit me! :D

hungry,

i got my hands on a used usgi fiberglass stock, if i bring it down with me, will there be someone who can instruct me on the fine art of glass bedding? and if so, what do i need to bring?

cheers & beers

~harry~

Hungry here: Bring the darn thing and let's have some fun! JB Weld is a simple and forgiving glass bedding material to work with. Only costs $ 9ish at Ukrainian Tire. Easy clean up also!

Hi Hungry,

Just bought one from a fellow member here not sure if I can receive it on time and if I do can I join you guys?

I am hoping to receive it in a week to ten days and if I didn't get it on time do you have plans for the near future on another S.Ontario clinic?

Thx

Did you see the other thread on the Burlington (BRRC) M14 Clinic on the 28th of Feb ? Maybe that can work for you.

Thanks for your prompt reply!

Yeah, just notice that and I will keep you updated whether will I able to make it with my new toy to your Barrie clinic or not:D, otherwise will see you in Burlington!!

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Cheers:cheers:

The Barrie Gun Club Inc
3619 Pinegrove Road
RR#2, Barrie, ON
L4M 4S4

Hwy 90 8km west of Hwy 400, north on Pine Grove Rd, 500m north on east side

Hit up Google Maps, it's pretty easy to get to.

Really stupid question, but, for someone who has never been to the Barrie Gun Club... Does anyone have directions??

If anyone is stuck for directions on how to get to Pinegrove road, pm me and I will give you detailed directions. Once you get to Pinegrove road and turn north, the gun club entrance is a couple hundred metres up on the right. Follow that road all the way to the clubhouse, it should be unlocked, but if not just buzz and I'll let you in. The classroom is downstairs, the stairs being just to the right when you enter the clubhouse (I will post signs).

As stated by Hungry, the club is a ways (10 mins) to Barrie or Angus, so best bring a lunch or whatever else you need unless you feel like taking a jaunt.

Great freakin' news !!! My 100 syringes arrived from the US of A! So the grease is on me! Each syringe will only cost you $ 2.00 !

I bought another 100 but that got lost en route, so this 100 is here NOW and it will be at the Barrie Clinic, so bring a couple of toonies, and maybe buy another for your buddies who could not make it to the clinic.

Frankly  I even use these syringes of grease on the workshop bench for my pistols and Autococker paintball guns. :D

Only a couple more sleeps !!
