Torque screw driver

I guess some of you may need them, but there are some of us who don't...

50 years ago today's torque settings for bases and ring screws didn't exist... and good and tight worked fine... it still does..

seriously...

Sorry but that's not repeatability. I suppose it's just the engineer in me, but I'd like to know exactly what torque setting it is fastened to especially if the manufacturer gives a recommended torque setting. I rather spend 120$ more on a tool to assemble a 500$ mount and a 4000$ dollar scope, a screwdriver isn't going to cut it.

My daughter told me an engineer joke

Engineer finds a frog.
Frogs says if you kiss me I will turn into a beautiful woman who will do anything you want and I mean anything.
Engineer puts the frog in his pocket
Five minutes later frog asks aren't you going to kiss me ?
Engineer says I haven't got time for a girlfriend I am too busy working on torque repeatability but hey a talking frog is cool.;);)

Simple is good and tight with a normal screwdriver... and it works.

A whole new industry has developed supplying torque drivers we don't really need...

I'm with this caustic old gent.
I did buy a Wheeler gizmo and don't trust it.
I set the torqie rench on the light side of the ring settings
and quit while I had a thread and head of screw still attached.
I've twisted 'nuff theads in my life to know when one will let lewse
oar snap.
Chit is that.............chit.
This one will be awn me table in April.
Used a kupple times.............regrettably.

But then a-gin, we all have diffrunt shew sizes.............

By nature we are obsessive about details. Who weighs charges over 100 grains to the tenth of a grain? Exactly. If torqueing action screws and bases/rings makes you feel better then go for it.

I have a Jet torque-limiting screwdriver. Works great. Buy once, cry once. Buy at Princess Auto, deform scope rings.

Actually, it is amusing to read such a statement from a fellow riding with guntech as avatar. :)

What is the use to spend premium dollars on top precision rifles, optics, rings and bases if they are to be randomly torqued into business? f:P:2:

It is a fact good tools are not cheap and the expense is sometimes hard to justify. For those cases, get the job done by someone who has the tools.

OP: Sorry for the late reply, just came across this thread. I use CDI (Snap On Industrial) screwdrivers and dial wrenches. No guess work and repeatable results.
