Tp9sa

I have followed the gun for years. This newest version is way nicer than the original which was almost an exact copy of the Walther P99. This new version is more of a copy of the CZ's. The trigger is supposed to be comparable to the $1000.00 guns. They are made in an ISO9000 controlled factory and they make military arms and supplies, so they are a very reputable company. I have been asking for them to come up for quite a while but they only had a 4" barrel, now it's 4.5 " just right for us. Some Americans ##### about the decocker making the gun unsafe for carry, but we don't have that concern, so it's perfect. You made a good move, as I am in the process of. :)

Add another to the list. I certainly didn't need another handgun but I figured what the Hell, why not?

I don't understand the idea of putting a decocker on a single action striker pistol. It doesn't make any sense to me but since our guns are only range toys, it's not a big deal.

Not a big deal even for the Americans. Draw the gun, slight bump of the slide while your bringing it up and your ready to fire, again a very small issue. The Americans really have issues with any handgun with a safety. And for us, it works out to be a disassembly button, so what's the problem ?

I'd take a chance in one if I could get it for $450 CAD or less, which it would be if our dollar was par. Otherwise there are better striker guns for that same or not much more $$ that you can actually get parts/mags/accessories for.

At $350 USD, you're under $450 CAD.

The vast number of online reviews would suggest the gun performs exceptionally well and the fit and finish is surprisingly good. The trigger is claimed to be better in terms of feel, pull weight, and re-set than other handguns that cost far more than the TP9SA. Accuracy is reported to be very good as well.

Like any handgun, it's not for everyone. However, this one is creating a lot of buzz because it shows you don't need to spend $800 to get a good polymer gun. Given a chance to succeed, I'm sure shooters here in Canada will be attracted to it.

With time, I'm sure magazine availability will improve. I want at least (5) for mine.

$350 usd + 25 shipping = $375

X 1.25 exchange = $468.75 CDN + $23.44 GST = $492.19 + shipping to your residence = approx $520.

At an at par dollar, it would be $393.75 plus local shipping. So about $420.

But the CDN USD is not at par.

And their are MP9 and Glocks for well under $800.

I want one. But it needs to be in the low 400s for me to bite.

Yep....Ruger SR9 and 9e are under/around $450 CAD, M&P range kits go on sale for $525 CAD...both made in USA. Turkey made needs to come in under those or I ain't bitin'.....lol

I've seen you post the exact same post at least several times now. Your basis of comparison in terms of price is skewed to suit your argument. You're including shipping and tax on the TP9SA and then comparing that to the advertised price of other pistols without including those same shipping and taxes.

Furthermore, there's a difference in taxes one must take into account as well depending on where a person lives. Depending on a person's province of residence, you could be saving money on tax if you buy through IRG. IRG is only charging GST. If you live in a HST province like I do, you can come ahead here.

Yes, you can buy Glocks for well under $800 if you're looking at Gen3 models. Comparing guns with similar feature, a Gen4 Glock is definitely right there within a few dollars of $800. So, figure that one out. In my particular situation, I'd have to add shipping and 15% HST. That Gen4 Glock is going to be somewhere around $960 if you factor in $35 for shipping.

M&P's can be had in a range kit similar to the TP9SA for between $650-$690 and sometimes as low as $599. Still, factoring in the tax and shipping (for me at least) and the total cost is going to be at a bare minimum $730, if I can get in on a $599 deal.

You mention the exchange rate differences and that's fine because it has to be taken into consideration not only for US based purchases but also the rising cost of new dealer inventories, which will skew the difference even greater into the future as the old stock dries up.

When was the last time you saw a M&P range kit for $525? Nothing recently, I suspect.

The price point in the US is right on the money, because it is priced at the very low end, much cheaper than my SR9 is in the US. The problem we will sadly always have is our dollar difference , and the mark up to get this gun here for sale This gun in all fairness needs to come in well below a SR9 up here which is normally retail around $540.00 mark, and on sale for about $450.00 and the SR9 is not intended to be a low end priced gun, but a mid point. But to date, all I see is the TP9SA coming in at a mid point price . Again, we pay through the nose, which is nothing new. I am very happy that finally the gun can come up to us, but sad at the price point ! IMO

I posted it once before in the IRG forum. I guess twice counts as "several".

This one was edited and is not the same exact post.

I posted the math with only GST. If you live in a place where the tax is higher, then the price will be higher for the TP9SA.

If you care to do the math for an HST province, please do. Show us how it is cheaper buying from IRG or Questar as currently they are the only sales points.

Questar is $529.99 by the way, before shipping and taxes.

I think for the money it's a really good deal. But if you'd rather have an M&P, Glock, or Walther, it won't out do those proven guns. It was designed and marketed as a "budget" striker fired polymer, as long as you keep that in mind it will probably exceed your expectations. I personally wouldn't spend the money on one, I'm looking at the CZ P09 from IRC.

Uhhh see post above. I was in the same boat....bought just prior to that deal for $50 more.
Anyway it's certainly no Glock, it's a Turkey clone of an outdated walther design. Should be comparing it to a DB9 for $275 US or an FMK for $350....
Oh I picked up a police trade in Gen 3 for $420 just before Xmas too... Think you need to work on your finding deaks on the innernet skills lol

The exchange rate will affect all the new guns coming. You won't see any new m&p range kit for $525

Very true. I see that new SDve9 pistols are selling for $500 elsewhere. We have gotten used to relatively good prices on guns and ammo because of an at or near par dollar. Now that the Loonie is down to 75cents, those days are gone for the time being and we are going to pay significantly more for new product.
