Trackpoint semi auto

We love reading about tracking point, they're such a wild company doing crazy things.

And the cost is slowly coming down it seems!

But yes: it does seem a little like cheating, doesn't it?

Of course, the argument in warfare is to exploit every advantage you can. Only a fool picks a fair fight.

In my opinion they are the most innovative firearms company out there right now. They are putting smart technology into guns for the right reasons, and seem to be doing a very good job of it.

I love my old fashioned 'dumb guns', and they will always be what I use, but I honestly can see myself owning one of these cool rifle systems in the future when costs come down a bit more. The potential is huge for these firearms.

Technology gets better every year, and I am very glad to see it blending with firearms.

Yup. If there's a way to do "smart" guns then this is the best example so far.

I'm curious to see what the former H&K guy comes up with . . . if he ever comes up with anything that doesn't get the NRA hopping mad.

It's innovative for sure. No doubt about that. And I'd love to try it. But I don't think it would be as satisfying to shoot as a dumb gun. Proficiently that is.

Am I the only one that watches the car commercials and shakes my head at people demonstrating the no driver input parking assist features, or the blind spot warning devices? Or yells at the tv whenever that actor says "my heads up display warned me an accident might be imminent".....?

Look out the damn windows!!!

There is no such thing as a fair fight, cheat as much as you can. But know the basics first. There is something to be said for being skilled at the basics.

The "Shotglass" glasses (http://tracking-point.com/how-it-works/shotglass) I believe are made up here by Recon Instruments, as they look identical to the "Jet" model: http://www.reconinstruments.com/products/jet/

I'm just wondering why you would have to pay $995 USD when the glasses are $600 direct from Recon. Unless the "app" is $400, which is a little pricey.

Edit: I'm also not entirely sure why there is a $7000 price hike on the 7.62 version versus the 5.56...

Hey thanks for that. Didn't know they were a Canadian company

No Problem! Saw them a few months back as an alternative to Google Glass on a Youtube channel. They're geared towards sports/athletics, but their use within the firearms community might be pretty large as well as they're also being outfitted for police work. Still, I'd like to see the + and - with them when the actually do hit the shelves (as the retail model keeps getting pushed back) as I don't really feel like being a beta tester for them. On top of that is the whole privacy concern that many have with any of these head-mounted units, so using them as a dedicated pair of sunglasses might not be the smartest idea overall.

Alright, I emailed Recon Instruments about the Jet/Shotglass glasses, and they told me that Trackingpoint is using their image of the "Jet" sunglasses without their consent and calling it the "Shotglass". So, the Shotglass is not being produced by Recon.

Thumbs down to Trackingpoint.
