I saw a lot of what came in and went out and only about 5% had original M38 stocks, a few were Tula 1944's and also a very small bunch were in laminated stocks. Not one was seen counter bored at the muzzle. They did put a good amount aside for the 5 rifle deals, so if you still want one this is your best option. All will probably be gone by the new year at the rate the orders were coming in.

I can only afford two m38's right now, but the fact that most/all were not counter bored makes me a very happy guy as well. Even with the m44 stocks, not a real big deal.

It's the way most gun products come in. One major distributor/importer that sells them to dealers but may also act as a dealer themselves. In this case Trade Ex appears to be the importer/distributor, and everyone who are dealers for them are selling them. Would also be why trade ex is shipping first, and dealers are shipping in a week or so.
 
I have one on the way too. I think I have milsurp addiction too. Waiting for IRUNGUNS to bring in the Chinese Type 53 carbines in January but I am ready to pull the trigger on any deals. Just scored a Nagant sniper and a 49 SKS on a trade. I think I may need professional help!

Oh I'm sure the dealers could make a buck at the same price, but know they'll still move volume for a bit more. An LGS near me said they could order them in for $230.

Supply / Demand etc etc

I may get one of these too, if they're priced reasonably. If they're around what I paid for the M38, but in the notoriously rough condition that most T53's come in, I may have to pass. Although, I'm a sucker for Chinese guns, and that side-folding bayonet.....

If the Mauser is nice I might just have to buy one on its own in the future. Bore good on it?
