Tradex has a large selection of Schultz and Larson .22s again...

A quick question for all you Schultz and Larson guru types out there: I have an older one with the sporting stock. I haven't fired it yet but I checked the function of the rifle. The two-stage trigger was working. Then, I decided to take apart the bolt. The screw in the bolt was on super tight but I got it off. When reassembled, the two stage trigger was gone and became a single stage. Is there any insights as to what went wrong here. I've tried tightening the screw at the end tight, looser, and flipped the bolt handle. I have it adjusted so the bolt handle can move with the slightest resistance within the bolt. Do I have to gorilla tighten that screw as it was before I messed with it? I did not remove the action from the stock.

I did take apart an M70 bolt and had no problem getting the two stage out of the rifle when reassembled.

Thanks for your input.

Can you take a picture of the bolt, top and bottom?

Mine showed up in the mail today and maybe it's something I'm doing wrong but I can't get the rear elevation screw to retract so the sight can slide down into the dovetail slot where it belongs?Spins and clicks like it should except it is not moving either up or down? Harold

Is the sight already in the base, or is this happening when you try to install it?

There is a metal bead in the slot wall that prevent from the elevation bolt to contact with the threaded hole without force, push the sight down a little bit and it should be working.

The sight slides 1/3 of the way into the dovetail and stops dead. The threaded elevation screw spins and neither advances or retreats? Not working not sure what you mean about about metal bead ?The ziplock that the sight came in was torn open so perhaps I got 1/2 a sight?

The dovetailed mounting plate that mts to the receiver has a hole at the top ,a 1/4 way in not threaded then a smaller diameter that is threaded.Elevation screw stops there and spins it's wheels? Is there supposed to be a smaller threaded bolt that goes in that hole?

There are a couple with nice stocks but I was hoping for one with a bit better peep on it, I would pay extra, so maybe will wait For the next batch, if there is one. Can anyone say how the regular diopter sights are and can the orifice be changed out? Thanks.

The peeps are just threaded in and replaceable. Threading on the stem of the peep is 6x.75 for M70 sights, and 6x1 for the pre-M70 sights. There is a guy in the US called "Apertures N More" that will custom make peeps to whatever diameter with whatever aperture hole you specify. I bought a die so I can rethread Lyman etc peeps to 6x.75. There are also adapters he makes so you can use common 9.5mm diopters. I was able to source one from my local Smith, and the most recent M70 I bought came with one already installed. I find they work really well with diopters.

Here is a larger disc Lyman peep I rethreaded.

Looks like some more added today.

Mine came in and it was within 100 of the M77 I bought last year. There may be more of these .22's in Canada than Denmark.

It looks like mine was discounted because of a missing bolt stop. But thanks to WECSOG I have a plan to make a copy from my other M77.

Mine is cleaning up well. If I could go back in time I would tell the previous owner of the evils of stickers on walnut:)

Went to the range today and found my Schultz & Larsen likes RWS Rifle Match, 2 out of 3 groups should be under 0.5" at 50 meters, second time shooting diopter sight.

Try removing the 50m plate, and when you install it, you might have to line the threaded rod up with the hole as the detent pushes it off center a bit. Once it's lined up with the hole, push it all down until it hits some threads, might have to push hard, don't worry. Turn the opposite way of the arrow on top to get it to thread down. Make sure the set screw is tight in the elevation knob and the rod is actually turning.

In the last pic is it normal for it to begin with a countersunk hole with threads partway in? Is there a piece missing perhaps? I suppose the set screws are metric ?

Thanx Hitzy.......when I removed the 50m side plate and applied a little downward pressure while turning the elevation knob it slid right into place! I didn't want to get too ham handed with a delicate sight. At some point a good stripping and cleaning is in order..The sight screws are 2mm on mine at least...Harold
