Tradex has a large selection of Schultz and Larson .22s again...

I am 72 years old & don't find it too heavy to carry.

Thanks. Do you use the diopter sights that came with it or replaced it with a scope? I'm trying to determine whether to purchase this rifle vs. a brand-new Savage FV-SR. I know Cabela's drops the price on the Landry model down to low 300s at times.

I use the diopter sights that came with the rifle. At 60 meters from a bench I can keep ten shots within an inch to an inch & a quarter. If my eyes were good I could likely do better.

I have two of the S&L .22 rifles one was purchased from a friend & I liked it so much I had to have another which I purchased from Tradex. I bought them to use as iron sighted rifles as I have about five other rimfires that all wear scopes.

Get one of the S&Ls while you can. I find them to be an excellent value their triggers are superb & the quality of the barrels are second to none. A very simple design that works extremely well. The Savage are also good & you can buy one of these anytime. The S&L target rifles are no longer being made.

Keep us informed as to which rifle you end up buying, there are a few good ones left on the Tradex site.

Never thought about it that way, thanks for the information, will keep you guys in the loop. Anyone have experience with those Husqvarnas bolt repeaters? They are selling at a similar price to the S&Ls.

I just went through this thread again and I'm tempted to look at Tradex's site again. I had the heavier one with the double set triggers out a few weeks ago, and did pretty decent with it. Good enough that I want to buy another and scope it. It sure is nice being able to shoot pretty much in my yard now too, even though I don't have a lot of distance. I was shooting at 25 yards, and using Eley practice. Hopefully I can do the 50 yard challenge with open sights. I cleaned decades of grime out of the stock and am working on refinishing it now too. I'll post more pics once it's back together, but I think this ones going to look pretty good.

I have a match rifle on the way now that Tradeex had left. Don't think it's a model 61 though as I think it's a bit earlier.

Which one did you get? They have a 61 that's missing the rear sight and has scope mounts that I've been eyeing since last Christmas. I'm kind of hoping someone else buys it before I feel like I have too. I think the only thing that's stopped me is that it has a fairly plain stock compared to the one I already have. That and my wife would probably kill me.

No, I didn't get that one. I see they took the listing down so I will post a few pics when it arrives which should be 2 days from now. The one I got is complete. It is the one where it said the bolt cycles a bit stiff. I think it might be something like a M49 but I'm not sure.

Looking at one of the M70s on Trade-Ex, is it alright that the rear guard screw is not original? Will it affect accuracy, etc?

The rear screw in the trigger guard anchors the back of the receiver to the stock. As long as the screw is the correct size for the threads in the receiver it should be fine.

Thanks! There's no way for me to tell from the website, but I assume it is fine.

i re open the thread.

I just got a S&L m77, but i want to be sure that it's 77 and not a 70. Where i can find the setting for the trigger.

Is it the screw at the top of the trigger ?

If it's not this screw, can some one show me where ?

That's one of the adjustment screws, if you take the action out there will be a few more on the trigger housing.
Yes it's an M77 trigger.
