Trailcams are a great tool, eh?

I have used my for the last several weeks to search for the ultimate treestand location. Lot's of pic's of does / fawns. No big boys yet.

I've got a Moultrie as well, they work great and give you an idea of what to hold out ofr on opening morning.

Word to the wise though, if your an Ebayer wait a couple months till after Christmas and the prices on them will drop by half cause nobody is looking for them in late December!;)

I have a trail cam, unfortunately it is 3 hours away and my friend that has been checking it is telling me the batteries are only lasting about 2 days. We gave up a couple weeks back but deer are coming, lot's of tracks and no apples... I'll retrieve it tomorrow.

Going on my first archery hunt!!

wow, nice pics of the bald eagle. i had no idea they were scavengers?

how do you folks feel about leaving these cameras on trees? do you make some attempts to camoflauge them? theyre worth more than a tree stand in most cases and are a lot easier to steal. people steal tree stands all the time. perhaps i have less faith in other hunters than some of you :)
they should make them with a tube running through the camera body that you can run a bicycle lock through. it wouldnt deter a determined thief but the casual guy who runs into one in the bush isnt going to have bolt cutters or a hacksaw on him.

Nice pictures people, Keep them coming. Are these Digital or regular Film ??

Manbearpig- Some Cameras are just a plastic shell, so if someone wants to screw with your camera it wont take much to do it. They do have key locks for you to get in and out of the casing. As for camo, there is some out there with a Realtree camo on it.

MANBEARPIG....OMG THAT'S HALIROUS...that was my favorite south park episode ever...super sereal! My wife and I nick-named our baby girl madbearpig because when she eats her bottle she attacks it fullforce...good name!

if they destroy the shell theyre pretty much ruining the camera anyways.
then again, thats how thieves from the GTA operate: my car was broken into, i had a stereo with a removable faceplate. they yanked the base out, tore up my car looking for the faceplate, couldnt find it so they threw the stereo against the wall, smashing it so that it would be of no use to me either.

i know the cameras themselves are camo'd, but do you guys try and place them in such a way as to be less visible to other hunters? i have nothing but bad experiences with stands and gear being jacked by other hunters, and a stand is a lot harder to steal than a camera. ive had ladder stands stolen off my own property. maybe its time to move out west.

A couple solutions to the batteries issue is a bigger battery, most companies sell adaptors for 6V or 12V, also a small solar panel is offered by most companies for $20. My camera is a 3.0MP stealthcam ($130 on ebay), I bought the 12V battery for $35 and it last 3-4months. The camera also comes with a locking bracket but I guess they could always cut down the tree if they really wanted it. Good luck with the archery hunt
