Trail Cameras

When I set up my cameras, I got the No SD Card message on both. But not knowing what to do I went ahead and left them like that. I got a phone call from S.I.R. Customer Service and apparently the cards Bushnell had included were defective. So they said Bushnell was replacing them and S.I.R. was going to send me the new cards. I haven't got those yet. Today I bought 2 new Kodak 265MB cards and went out and put them in my cameras. I'm hoping to be able to retrieve them in the next week and see what I've got...

That is likely just the start of your problems. I picked one of these up a couple weeks ago from wholesale Sport in Saskatoon. Had the same memory chip problem, but that was the least of it. They have logic problems as well. I tried 9 different cameras as Wholesale Sport, and not a single one worked. I returned mine, but will buy another one once they have the problems sorted out.

When I talked to Bushnell customer support, they were aware of all the problems, but released them for sale anyway????????????

Wholesale Sport was great to work with.

2fat2fly I guess the way to respond to that is, "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it..." As of now I have not had any problems except that memory card and Bushnell is buying me 2 new cards.

These cameras were recommended to me by an outfitter that owns them. He said they are simple and reliable, so that's what I went on. The cameras he had bought may not have been this exact model, I'd have to ask him. Maybe he was talking about an older model that was trouble free for him.

The 2 I bought are the Bushnell Nightvision 3.0MP.

P.S. I sure hope they work! ;)

What happens if somebody walks by this and takes it?

Then I guess I'd be S.O.L. $400.

I got a brain wave as far as an interface between the camera(s) and the computer; rather then buy the Bushnell Accessory Viewer for $150 I bought a Lexar Multi-Card Reader for $35 at Wal-Mart.
It will read SD, xD, Memory Stick and several others.

The only obvious drawback is that I cannot view/delete pics in the field. Also I'm not entirely certain that I can delete pics off the memory cards with this little device, although one of the "techies" at work says I can. According to him my Windows XP software will allow me to do that.

What's the point in doing that? Didn't the Bushnell camera come with a computer interface, a cable or somesuch?

Nope, there is no data port on the trail camera.

Demonical, let me know how you make out. If they've solved the problems in the later batches I want to get one. I saw a very nice moose when I was coming out of my acreage yesterday. He was full velvet, and about 36" across the paddles.

I take the chipo out of my trail cam and pop it into my Digi Cam for field viewing and downloadig/uploading.:)

Gatehouse which model of camera do you have? Is it the Bushnell or the Stealthcam (or other)?

Even though I've got this memory card reader I also intend to buy a medium price digital camera, that takes the SD memory card. Looking at a Canon or Kodak...

Yesterday I bought a Canon Powershot A540, it takes the SD memory cards. Then last night I checked one of my cameras. As soon as you open the thing you see the display, it said "10 events".
Obviously an event is each time the camera tried to take a pic.

I have 4 pics on the camera, I'm guessing there was 6 pic attempts with the crappy card. My 4 pics are a shot of black trees silohuetted against the sky, 2 pics of grass and trees and the back end of a whitetail (I'm thinking it was likely a doe) walking past.

I think the lag time between the sensor recognizing an animal is there and the time the shot actually takes, means a person is going to see some ass ends. I'm thinking I need to put something in front of the camera that would make an animal pause. A scent stick, salt or something...

Later when I take the pics off the camera I will post them here. Also maybe in a larger shot I might be able to see more detail in the pics.

The camera works.

Here's some pics I have gotten over the last 3 weeks.

I had 35 pics on the memory card that these pics came off. Taking forever to download onto PhotoBucket for some reason, so I'm not going to bother with any others right now. These will give you an idea of how the camera works.

Some pics like this I do not understand what triggered the camera...

Doe pics needs no explanation...

This is a pretty decent buck. When I linked the camera to the TV you can see it a lot better... didn't copy onto the computer as well. It's probably 22" outside 5x5, likely this deer would gross score close to 150".

Last night I moved my cameras to new locations to check some different trails.

Damn, I guess I'll be heading back to WSS to pick up another one and give it a try. They called a couple days ago saying they had a new batch in.

I got my Bushnell TraiScout 3.0MP Infared LED trail cam today, hopefully will have ti set up sometime this coming week, and might have some pics to share by late September :)

checked my cam today, I had set it up last week on a trail that looked like it was getting some use, but I didnt put a ton of thought into my placement of it :p anyways, 7 pictures in a week. four of a mulie doe, one of a moose (didnt turn out too good - too far away and facing away at 10pm), and a couple that were blurred and I cant tell what set the cam off, probably something too close

here's the pic of my trophy catch and release doe :D

Good pic TBart. I took one of my cameras up to my moose hunting country in Swan Hills area, 10 days ago. The other has been on duty for 3 weeks now and I haven't gotten around to checking it. I needs to...

Sending my Bushnell Trail Scout Pro back as we speak. Worked good in the back yard but went to set it up on a trail and it quit. DOn't hunt a lot in my backyard so need one that works a little better :dancingbanana:
