Trailboss is back

So many powders. This is not one that is needed.
Could you suggest alternatives for loading 45-70 to shoot out of my Sharps rifle? I did use N32C and even Clays when Trail Boss was not available. N32C is now discontinued and I found Clays to be very sensitive to powder position because it's a very light charge - even with a magnum rifle primer. I use H335 for 45-70 reloads for my lever gun, but only looking to get ~1000fps out of my Sharps. What other fluffy (low density) smokeless powders could I try?

To each his own. Trailboss is my favourite. I use it for most of my rifles, especially my WWI and WWII bolt actions. 303 British, 8mm Lebel, 7.62x54R, 8x56R, 8mm Mauser, 43 Mauser and more.

Trailboss, Unique, and Red Dot are all great rifle powders for putting holes in pieces of paper. YMMV

If you can find it, I'd suggest Red Dot or Unique. Lyman Cast reloading manual is my go-to for light target loads.

Here is the thread on the 45-70 light loads: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/threads/45-70.2500680/

Alliant Unique pistol/shotgun powder; 5744, 4198 rifle powders. All make nice plinking soft-recoiling loads. I have used 5744 and 4198 in the Sharps - recoil is comparable to 308. Trailboss is good too of course
