Mine was the guy that said he would give a rifle to someone who found him a part for a outboard boat engine, I contacted him and said I'll find the part but did not want the rifle. I contacted him a couple of days later and said I was getting the part and he said he already got one. I ended up eating the cost of it. Oh well live and let live, but never forget.
Just out of idle curiosity, abman, was that me? And if so, is that why you sold me the two old Marlins with all of the home-made parts and other problems that you never disclosed?
Just curious. Like you say, live and let live, but never forget......

Marlin Model 1893 (25-36 Marlin) caliber serial # 343640. The round barrel measures 21.25" from the front of the receiver to muzzle and has a full-length tube magazine.
Rifle has the original wood furniture (stock and fore stock, brass butt plate) and all screws are original and in great condition. The front and rear sights are not original. The rear is a Marbles. There are no other aftermarket parts, and all the parts to this firearm are original except those as noted to my limited knowledge.
It is in working condition as I have fired this gun using (25-35 Winchester) some time ago, however, cannot remember the accuracy achieved.
Markings on barrel as follows:
Marlin Firearms Co. New Haven CT USA
Pat’d Oct 11, 1887April 2, 1883, Aug 1, 1883
25-36 M
<Special Smokeless Steel>
The two detriments to this firearm are that one of the previous owners nipped approximately 1/16” – 1/8 off the barrel at a slight angle and rubbed it with sandpaper(?). It could easily be squared. The bore is dark and there is only a hint of rifling. I believe the finish on the receiver and barrel to be original. The patina on them is nice. Rust or pitting on the rifle is minimal but acceptable considering the age of this firearm. The wood furniture has a gloss finish therefore I believe done by a previous owner, as well, a small patch has been put in the bottom (1/2” x 2”) on bottom of stock about 6” from the butt.
I've tried to describe this as best I can; I am a firearms enthusiast/user not a seller if I can help it. I am trying to conjure up some cash to purchase another must have therefore clearing out some nice to haves. The description is as accurate as I can possibly be as I don’t need nor want negative feedback.
Pictures available (e-mail me).

Marlin Model 1893 38-55 caliber serial # 425625. The round barrel measures 25.5" from the front of the receiver to muzzle and has a full-length tube magazine.
Rifle has the original wood furniture (stock and fore stock, butt plate) and all screws are original and in great condition except for the tang (?) screw on the very back which I believe to be a replacement. I suggest that the front and rear sights are replacements due to their appearance but am not certain. There are no other aftermarket parts, and all the parts to this firearm are original except those as noted to my limited knowledge.

The single detriment to this firearm is that one of the previous owners drilled out the <first inch of the rifling. For what reason I can only surmise.
Rifling is bright and sharp. I asked a friend to give his opinion on the rifling as I am not experienced in this area. I have pushed a lead bullet through it to show the rifling.
I believe the finish on the receiver and wood furniture to be original. The patina on the receiver is nice. Rust or pitting on the rifle is present but acceptable considering the age of this firearm. The barrel and magazine _may_ have been re-blued (?) as they do not have the same coloring as the receiver.

Since you wanted to go down this route, it was you who did not disclose to me that you had a problem with them until months down the road after you made the repairs. It was you who did not give me opportunity to make right on the deal before proceeding. It was you that brought it up as an afterthought when I was dealing with you as a moderator due to my $1000.00+ loan to the guy in BC who renegiged on a sale of a Dillon 650 and took 6 mths to pay me back my money
