Training Interest?

A course can be tailored for nearly any range facility. The range layout itself need not be "realistic"...that can be worked on. However the powers in charge of the range must be cool with fire & movement type drills forward of the firing line and hot range style instruction.

The challenge is likely going to be the CFO's.

When we sat down with members of the Ontario CFO (2 to 3 years ago) to discuss offering tactical training courses for civilian participation we ran into a brick wall. They were quite opposed to the idea of offering any kind of "real world" or "tactical" training to civilians. It was as if we were suggesting that we were going to train cop-killers... that was the reaction we got.

Their "official" position was that these did not constitute "legal uses" for firearms in Canada and therefore the training did not conform to what they believed was an "approved purpose" under any Business Firearms License.

I can't answer for other provinces but the main hurdle in Ontario would (in my opinion) be the CFO. If they will approve the course (course materials) then getting a range to host shouldn't be that difficult... but without the CFO's approval the gun club won't be able to host it without risking the loss of the operating approval.

I'd be happy to help sponsor the event and arrange to have it held at Barrie Gun Club... but would need you to get the CFO to first "approve" the course (and instructors) that you wish to present. You get that approval from CFO and we'll help get the range facility.

Didn't Tactical Response do a fighting pistol and advanced fighting pistol in Grand Prarie and Abbotsford? Maybe the Alberta and BC CFO's would approve?

The Alberta and BC CFO's would likely be the only hope. Saskatchewan too but they lack the shooting population that would attend this and decent facilities.

I say Alberta, Calgary or Edmonton area. Lots of people and close enough for military folk.

i can't say i go the urban folk dancers often but after finally seeing a variety of clubs in Montreal in Setember all i can say is "don't believe the hype"

seriously Calgary and the French Maid Entertainment Group is the way to go...

Why does the CFO have to approve training? Does the CFO have to approve every event that goes on at a range in Ontario/Quebec?

Don't call it training...It's just a range event...

Sounds like fun. I'd be into this, and I can think of a range where it can happen too.

Any sort of reliable rifle/carbine would be acceptable. Train with what you plan on using, whether that's in your home or at work.

I guess you won't see too many AR's if the rifle has to be reliable:nest:.

I am absolutely interested. A pistol/rifle course would be preferable as the opportunity for this type of training doesn't come up much.

Also, are autographs and pictures of Kevin B and Big Red included in the package?:D.

A course on small convoy defense (without the fire power of MG) and causalty recovery in an ambush for softskinned vehicles. Lots of shooting drills from insideand around a tightly spaced vehicle.....
