Training Interest?

Just a though but what if we could somehow incorporate the strippers into the course?

They'd be walking around making sure everyone's camelbacks are full of water..... and pouring the excess water over themselves......:dancingbanana:

Hope this gets of the ground, I definately need more training, would be good in Ontario but I would travel if I have too....

..... and thanks to Kevin and BigRed for considering it....

Oh and maybe a class on running the Vz85?!??!

Any place that:

1. Has enough guys to justify a course
2. Has a range that is comfortable with realistic training being conducted
3. Has beer and strippers.

Silverdale, near Niagara in Ontario.

Item 3 is common across canada, so it really boils down to 1 & 2.

And I'm in for carbine if it's local. Has to be cheaper than Blackwater.

Due to the lack of SNC/Simmunition supporting civilians usage of Simmunition FX marking cartidges it does not appear that a viable Force on Force program can be fielded, unless anyone has any firends in low places at SNC...

If you can find safeguardguy, he ran sims courses across canada.

Nothing like sims to make someone take cover more seriously.

As mentioned, there will be basic courses offered to all.

Courses like Vehicle tactics, Low Light, etc will have prerequisites. It's just not safe to immerse a brand new shooter into training of that type. It's also a waste of everyone's time to have one guy playing catch up on basic skills during an advanced course when the students are there to learn NEW material.

Some classes may be restricted LEO/Military only purely due to course content.

What about ex-military. Ah, who am I kidding...I forget it all anyways. (not that I learned a tonne or anything) Ok chalk me up for an almost Noobie.

I really think the tactics course should have s**t load of rehearsals before live firing - you don't necessarily learn anything from dumping rounds into the general direction. it is kinda fun to make noise.....but it is about learning the materials, not dumping rounds.

Don't worry, safety and realism will be balanced. We managed to teach this stuff to Iraqis without anyone getting shot, CGNers should be okay;)

None of the courses will be featuring the "ballistic masturbation" that is dumping rounds downrange for the sake of it. Only hits count.

From what I understand range useage isn't as controlled in BC - that's why we have things with labels like 'multi-purpose range' or at least we do on the Island.

Not to mention the Iraqi's where a mixed bag. From lawyer to former Iraqi ERU (which is mentor's by a JSOC METT team from both Dam Neck, and Stockade boys, running and gunning, using beltfeds, other toys which where Green with yellow stencils, and armored vehicles, in both high and low profile movements. BigRed and I ran weapon training for the team.

Everything is done in a walk before you run environment, safety is paramount, as nothing is worse than losing someone to blue on blue. People not up a proper standard will be removed from drills they are not up to, and either given extra training, or removed from training. Both BigRed and I have been on courses and teams where some are not up to the level of skill required for drills, and I for one will not push someone past their level into a dangerous situation.

Movement and firing boxes can be used where necessary and additional safety staff and A/Instructors can be added where it helps.

Ontario/Quebec classes - we have both friends in Petawawa and LE circles, so additional instructors and RSO's are easy to get.

Alberta and BC - LEO's from both those provinces, and Mil folk from Edmonton are friends as well.

Lastly - these are skill classes. While John and I could run a High Risk PSD type class, Canada frowns upon this sort of training, both from a Range Safety perspective, and most of the CFO's and other interested entities feel its not something for the civilian populace.

We dont expect people to show up in MICH's with comms, and full assault gear, if we run something like that - it will be a one or two week class in the USA.

Showing up with a good quality rifle and pistol, a sling, a holster and a few mags, and a flashlight will be enough, dependant upon the course.

For specific drills no more than 2 pistol mags and four rifle mags will be required (20 rounds and 20 rounds respectively). Shooting well aimed shots quickly is the key to anything firearm related - both matches or defensive shooting. Perfect practice makes perfect.

I'm interested. (Virden, MB would be ideal for this ;))

Have you an approx. course cost and ammo count?

Perhaps a poll regarding regional interest (multi option for those willing to travel) is in order to give you a better idea where to run the initial course?

Just a thought - with the popularity of 9mm carbines and the RRA pistols running around that have been SBR'd... How about some "semi-SMG" drills??

make it happen in ont. pq and i think you could run courses for a week without stoping.
Another thing that would be usefull for civies, is how to use a shotgun for defence.
Everyone has a shotgun, and for defence, house , car ect the shotgun can be one hell of a firearm @50yards and under.
