Transfer times in BC

Well few of you guys on phone have been lucky i mean i never get to it lol and then after 20 mins disconnected if i ever do. Last i spoke they denied anyone approving on phone as you go but we all know that BS.

I was really shocked when it rang through to the holding message I tried maybe 4 times in 11 weeks this time I was just lucky it was about 1pm maybe a little later I used the extension above and just got lucky :) the ironic part is I was one of the guys saying just wait do not call bug them etc today as just a whim

From what I can gather, they're not really cutting the line because the people who work the phones only work the phones (at least according to others on this thread who have asked the people on the phone). They are not tasked with approving transfers if they aren't on the phone... And if that is the case then an argument can be made that they are actually speeding up the rest of the transfers, because if the phone people ONLY approve transfers if people call in about them, then all those transfers being approved by calling in are getting removed from the pile that would have to be approved by the people who do approve them, thus increasing the number of overall transfers done in a given day.

And because its the BC CFO office, not the CFP office that is approving transfers, you can't even blame these people for tying up the phone lines that you need to get through to start/continue a transfer.

Bottom line is all this cluster f u c k was easy to anticipate after they announced they were going to freeze crime in Canada by freezing assets of non criminals.... but I guess working from home and general missmangment is why I can't think of any govt bureaucracy that is working within reasonable timelines right now.

I know you said it's easy to call in from work and play the lottery but that doesn't work for everyone.

it could be a lot worse the lady told me they are usually a week to 10 days a head of Ontario but now they are 22 days ahead. My call got everyone else 3 numbers ahead of where they would have been if Id not called so those who cannot call still benefit from those who can by speeding up the whole BC que. if they keep this up and take the calls BC will go through the majority of its que before next year Ontario is looking at 2024 by some estimates personally I don't blame the CFO's this is on JT and marco just like they have never done a study on which firearms are the ones used in crimes legal illegal they did not think to plan for this happening when history proves it was going to, the easiest way to get through is a cellphone and bluetooth earbuds keep working until you get through as once you get to the looping commercial hold you are almost guaranteed to get through if it stops you right after the extension you wont get through give up try another day

That's a good point, but I've also heard on this thread that the reason that the BC CFO shuts their phone off in the afternoon is so they can approve transfers. Although it does make sense that the people on the phone and people approving transfers are different people.

Honestly, I just think the fact that every transfer has to be rubber-stamped by RCMP is ridiculous when I hold a valid license to own restricted firearms.

The BC CFO have been shutting off their phones at 1400hrs long before this nonsense. I don't know why, maybe its a hold over from Covid work from home arrangements?

But yes, the whole rubber stamp thing is bull####.

Called the BC CFO yesterday for the hell of it. Spoke to a really sweet lady who processed my first transfer (599###x) from August 10th while I was on the phone. We spoke about the 3 other reference numbers I have waiting, she said 'He hasn't approved them yet'.

She said that people are back from vacation and they are catching up so I should see the others approved in the next week or so.

Got an email an hour later with paperwork for the one she did and another transfer (2 x Aug 16th purchases on the same reference #600###x) approved as well.

It took a about 2 hours of calling on two phones, once through i was cutoff after being on hold for 2-15 minutes several times. She did say that if i don't get emails in the next two weeks I can call back.

2.5w and nothing:)

Will wait till it's 6w before trying to call CFO.

I hear it takes 6-8w now a days.

I was at 11 weeks before I called in it probably would have been that week I got approved

that said I received the transfer for 3 two of the dealers got the transfer approved Email but the 3rd still has not received the Email from the CFO I do not know why just that the others shipped and the last one said he will as soon as the email arrives. SO just because you get approved does not necessarily make you in the clear lol

Apparently average time is 8-10 weeks. i was able to get 2 of mine from June 29 and Aug 2nd done by a sweet lady. still waiting for recent one but i wont sweat on that at least for month

Got two transfers approved from the end of June and beginning of July on Wednesday by calling through to the BC CFO. Took a few days and a lot of disconnects but I got lucky and she did both on the phone.

I had agreed to buy 3 pistols from a coworker's husband before the shmozzle, but he dragged his feet about getting the transfer started until after June 1st. He still hasn't gotten through to the CFC, but he did print out and we filled out the paper copy of the transfer that the CCFR had posted. He sent it Registered Mail and it was signed for at the CFC June 8th. So my two questions are:
1) Has anyone had approval from the paper forms yet? Ever?
2) He tells me he is still trying to call, but hasn't got through yet. Will there be any confusion/issue if he gets through THEN they decide to process the paper copy?
STILL nothing showing on the online site for "restricted transfers"
I still haven't heard from anyone who has had luck with the paper copy mailed in. I'd like to hope even if the gooberment finalizes this bill in the fall that anything "in the works" will still be processed

Anyone had luck with the mailing of the paper copy yet? I assume there isn't much point in ME phoning in without a reference number and the seller works away from the phone M-F so we are really relying on the paper form for the transfers

EDIT for Clarity: both the seller and I are in BC. The paper forms were sent to Miramichi and signed for there June 8th

If I were you I would call the 9350 number just to verify the transfer has been initiated. You just need to give them your PAL# and they can look it up from there.

I've wasted over a couple hours on hold last week just trying to complete a transfer with the CFC so that I can get into the line up at the BCCFO.... what a joke.

Late June and not really counting. Has anybody checked their online CFC? Since we are the ones to connect them with some business anyway.....

not sure if that is a option but would be nice to be able to see what transfer reference numbers are associated with my account online. beats calling in just to check. they should make it a feature

I honestly have no idea what the online restricted reference page is for. For me it shows one reference from 2007, and one from 2018.... not any from the restricted's I purchased between those two or since those two....
