Transfer Times

EDIT - THIS APPLIES TO ONTARIO (DEALER TO CUSTOMER.) I ALSO POSTED IN THE ONTARIO THREAD IN GENERAL DISCUSSION.

According to what I have seen here and my calcs if nothing changes this is when i think they will clear. I got my numbers based off of the past 6 weeks seeing about 1300 clear from the overall number each week. Using that I took the ref numbers and added 1300 per week to see when things will go.

5920000 Ref numbers should clear this year
5930000- 5980000 should clear in 2023
5990000+ Ref numbers are Spring of 2024
If nothing changes, ONT purchases from today will clear around May of 2024.

I will update when each one comes though.

If you don't like what you see above Write your MP, MPP, CFO. Go to taccom and talk to the CFO in person. Contact the Ontario Ombudsman. We need to make more noise.

I tried calling today for the first time and essentially the recording basically said we are busy and then hung up. So i will continue to wait patiently I guess.

Blessed be the Alberta CFO! Those poor souls down east. I can't believe how long it is taking. Alberta is comparably faster and better than that. Does anyone have knowledge of the stats regarding TOTAL purchases? is ALBERTA transferring the most or least based on population, I.E per capita?

BC
Purchased from a store Aug 5
Called in today Aug 24 and approved on the call, received notification via email and the store got it too
I couldn't get through on the phones these past 2 days but got through today.

If I hadn't called it would probably take a few more weeks eventually. Didn't want to wait for parliament to start and more BS being shoved down our throats before I eve get my hands on it and at least shoot it a few times at the range!

We are all waiting. hoping that they get their act together.

Not sure it's a matter of "getting their act together"... if handgun transfers are banned and most restricted rifles were prohibited in May 2020 then when the current wave of transfers is done there isn't going to be much work for the CFO staff - basically the occasional transfer of whatever restricted rifles still remain (if any).

From a "keeping the paychecks coming" perspective that argues for stretching the remaining work out as long as possible and hoping we nominate a Conservative leader who can actually get elected by the rest of Canada. That last part is what keeps me awake at night... the idea that the current Government is laying on insult after insult to get the Conservatives to pick a leader that Trudeau can beat in a general election where the average voter views legal firearms owners as baby killers.

At minimum I think we need to accept that the platform our next leader takes to the country is going to have to be different from the platform they take to the leadership convention, unless we all think we can and will invest the time and resources to carefully and patiently re-educate the electorate after almost a decade of carefully planned lies and misinformation from the current government.

The challenge will be undoing years of misinformation in what is likely to be only a few months... and if we are not highly confident we can do that (I don't feel like I have a good plan) then IMO we are really going to have to tone down the rhetoric when we go into the next election.

Here is some info that might help others figure out how much longer they mighthave to wait for their handguns.

I bought two handguns on June 1st. One at noon and the other at about 7:00pm at night.
The noon purchase was in person at PERKINS PEMBROKE where Lance and Mike were able to get through to the CFO within 10-15 minutes and get a transfer reference number right away 5880###.
The 7pm purchase online from ELWOOD EPPS was processed the following day and the reference number came back to me a few days later as 5895###.
So there were about 1500 transfers requested between my two purchases.
The first handgun arrived Aug 3rd after 63 days.
The second handgun arrived today Aug 24th after 84 days.
This means that in the 3 weeks between approvals the CFO Ontario processed about 714 transfers per day.
I purchased another handgun on Aug 18th and at this rate, don't expect to receive it until 2023-01-25.
A friend purchased a firearm on Jun 3rd 5899### and I estimate he should receive it in 6 days on Aug 29th.

Hope this helps.
