Transfer Times

Yup, short barreled semi auto.

Thank god. I thought it might have been one of those murder machines that they call pistols.

Rather disappointing that there hasn't been an efficiency gains made in the system since May 31. Not being told is one thing, but failing to batch clear, or carrying a clearance for 30 days (as in you were approved today, so anything in the next 30 days gets rubber stamped) is disappointing. Even the alberta cfo has fallen months behind...

Transferring is literally a database update that should take 1 ms. This is a huge waste of time for both employees and civilians.

Sadly, that is the very point of the entire exercise. This is about politics and inflating public budgets, and not practicality or efficiently serving Canadians that pay for this.

Aug. 20th purchase from Alberta business.
Transfer initiated Aug. 21st.
Called BC CFO this morning and got through after a few times of trying. On hold for only 10 minutes. A very nice lady approved my transfer while on the phone. Was advised they were currently processing July transfer requests.

From what I gathered on here it looked like it would have probably been approved by sometime in January had I not called. But I wanted my new pistol arriving during XMAS present season so the wife would just think it’s a present for her or one of the kids. ;)

What phone number did you use?

Whelp, I've officially been bypassed.
Probably because it's my first restricted?

What was your purchase date ?!? I’m wondering if the selling party got you in under the wire?

I haven’t heard of anyone missing out on their first restricted unless they missed getting in the system before the cutoff.

I got my number July 5th. I only say I've been bypassed because others with higher transfer numbers in the same situation (ON business to ON Private) have been approved.

That's pretty normal, so I wouldn't worry about it unless you "fall behind" by like a week or so. I would guess you will be approved before the end of the week.

Maybe somebody else can chime in, my first restricted took ~month and a half, back in aug-sept 2021. I thought I remember reading the first restricted takes longer.

I just got my first a couple of weeks ago, and it was right on schedule based on the tracking number and Ontario spreadsheet. So there didn't seem to be any additional delay because it was my first.

Unfortunately, I think the timeline of a restricted transfer in 2021 is pretty irrelevant given the current climate…excess of 5 months is the norm for purchases made over the summer 2022, first restricted or not. Still waiting for Ontario private June 24.
