Anyone know what the waiting time is for handgun transfers and gun shop ATT's in Ontario currently is right now? I know back in March it was a little over 1 week.

I've just had 2 restricted's take 15 working days to be approved by Ontario CFO , Orillia. I've got a current on that started the process by ONT CFO on 12 April... still pending.

Then on the other hand, I just sold a restricted .45 to Alberta. Their CFO approved the transfer in 5 working days.

Cheers,
Barney

CFO Orillia Restricted Transfers

I just initiated another restricted transfer today (27 April) for a pistol.

I'm currently waiting on a transfer from 12 April (15 days now).... I'll keep all of you posted.

Cheers,
Barney

Latest CFO Times

Having bought a Beretta on Sunday, I called Orillia today for an update.

They said that they should fax my ATT to Epps tomorrow or early next week. The pleasant guy to whom I spoke said that they have really sped things up.

So, that means a turnaround of about one week.

My last restricted transfer was about a week and a half... but I'm still waiting on my damn certificate... grumble

One thing I do is call one week after completing the information portion of the transfer. I started this after they "misplaced", (the info was loaded, but the send button was never pushed) a transfer of mine for 3 weeks, while I just sat back and patiently waited...

Now I call and politely inquire as to the status one week after the transfer just to make sure it hasn't happened again. Every time I've called I've been told its complete and the CFO should be sending the papers out shortly.

I call every day after the transfer has started. It makes sure the transfer has been started and they'll tell you when the CFO's done with it and it's gone to the Registry. Plus, I think it helps show the CFC operators that I care enough about them and their jobs to phone that often.;)

I just did 12(6) transfer that took 13 working days, previous one was 10 working days. "At the registry" is where the big delays are.

Called with my info on Tuesday(April 18) as I'm buying a pistol from a guy in Ontario. Got my Tranfer auth in the mail on Friday(Yes 3 days later) saying I can now take possesion. :) Just waiting for the certs now.....and the gun of course.

I bought a Ruger Vaquero from 'Wild West' in Edmonton, and the transfer was done in a couple of hours.

Would have been quicker but the guy was out to lunch.

(Interesting what can be achieved. I have always found it funny that a rifle can be transferred immediately, and a hand gun takes soooo much longer.)

Finally got my SIG 226 today. It took 18 working days to get my ATT and only 2 days to ship my SIG from Manitoba to Ontario. Well off to the range with my new SIG.
