I have wayyyyyyyy too many thoughts about tree stands to put down here since I am a two finger typist. But I have spent many hundreds of hours of my life in portable, and not-so-portable, and permanent tree stands, and I just might be the encyclopedia of wisdom you need (since we are of similar ages and physiognomies...)

One comment on the deer stands that you guys use for rifle hunting I have is that (IMO) you are WAY too exposed on a lot of them. (the ground stands)
If we can work on building up blinds on the ground, and adding some tree stands, I think your success rate will go up tremendously.
