Tried out my 'new' Marlin 30-30 made in 1975

I am a Winchester guy but the Marlin 336 IS superior to the Winchester 94 in nearly every respect including accuracy. Taking a 336 down for repair is simple compared with taking a 94 apart. With all the older 336's made from the 50's to the 80's floating around for bargain prices I can't understand why anyone would buy a new one(lower quality, abortion of a safety and higher price).

I agree. I saw another 336 at our last gun show and would have bought it on the spot, except I had no cash at the time.

Here's mine. Picked it up off the EE awhile back. Just snapped a couple pics this afternoon:

I also have a Marlin of similar vintage that shoots sub-moa regularly...a real keeper, for sure.
And I do prefer the Marlin for several features already mentioned.

But, I also have a M94 that turns in some pretty decent groups...not quite as good, but a deer would never tell the difference.

Good old 30-30's...just keep rolling along, doing what they were intended to do.

Regards, Dave.
