hey guys. Not sure if this is the right spot for this post but I hope so.

Anywho, I just bought a NIB Nornico 1911A1 it was completely covered in thick oil. the trigger pull and length seemed good. not much play at all. So I tore it completely apart to get that thick oil off of it and reassembled, everything went pretty well except for some complications getting the main spring in position (lol was my first time so took a little while and some patience). But now it seems like the trigger extends further into the guard then it originally did. I can see the rivet/weld marks which I'm almost positive I couldn't see before and there is a lot more vertical and horizontal play.

Could I have possible put my main spring out of wack or could the oil have really been keeping it tighter? any suggestions would be appreciated. half-#### and full-#### work and the safety's work, it dry fires fine so I would assume I put it back together properly.

Thanks!

Did you put the trigger in upside down? The back of the trigger bow is slanted...could mess things up if it's not right way up...

I did think that at first as well and took it apart again. and it can only be inserted one way. it binds heavily if you try and insert it upside down. probably so that you can't accidentally do that.

Hmm... Been too long since I last tore down one of my 1911s... Can't take one apart tonight... Hope you get it sorted...

If the magazine inserts and the mag release is working properly, you have the trigger in properly. That packing oil it thick stuff and between that and (if yours was anything like all mine) the crud/ sand/ shavings that were in the trigger bow recesses, once cleaned and oiled...the trigger won't feel the same.

yea I went into another shop and took a look at a couple other norinco's I guess I'm just crazy because they all looked felt the exact same. oh well sorry for the trouble lol. my ocd won't let me stop looking at it though, guess i'll have to get a different trigger :p

Having larger hands and long fingers, I needed a long trigger and had to swap out all of the short original (which are the same length as Colt stock) triggers.

And, while I was there, I figured what the hell and fit nighthawk innards to a Norc Commander. :) I have plans of front strap checkering as well as top of slide. Blank out the gun aside from serial number and reblue it to something that would make the finest of firearms green with envy. :) (all I need is time! :p)

lol nice Plinker, problem is if I'm anything with this 1911 like I was with my paintball guns I won't stop upgrading/swapping parts so I might have to resist the urge to do that kinda stuff :p

Trinimon, yea I have looked at a few and I'm not entirely sure I trust myself to start filing parts and welding chunks of metal in. I think I will just run it as is for now see how it feels at the range and if need be just purchase a trigger that has ability to be adjusted (wings, set screws, etc). I think I would feel safer that way, Milling and screwing around with my paintball guns was one thing but this is possibly out of my scope.

If you're welding anything to a 1911 trigger, you're doing it wrong. lol
Buy an aftermarket one (about $25-$40) with adjustment wings like you say. You can tweak the leaf spring to remove some front/back rattle. BUT, as Clint Eastwood would say... "a man's gotta know his limitations...."

:)...pretty certain I'm the only one at my range with a $1,000+ Norinco Commander. And, this $1K Commander still has FTF issues every now and again (finicky mags actually) :( :p.

Thanks Anthrax, its not fixed per say. Just not broke lol. Plinker in all honesty I was unsure of either of those acronyms, but felt dumb afterwords considering how obvious they are lol.
