I've got a Christensen Arms Traverse (rem 700 trigger) that came from the factory with a Triggertech trigger...I don't like it as I can't adjust it below 2.5-2.75lbs.

I'm going to replace it with something lighter.

Would you go with another model of Triggertech or go with a Timney?

I've got both Triggertech and Timneys on other rifles and can't say I have a preference.

Or has anyone been successful in lightening up the Field Triggertech to below 2.5lbs?

I’d pop it out and send it to triggertech.

The regular primary should go to 1-1/2 easily, unless Christensen did something funky with the cocking piece angle.

I have my TriggerTech trigger at 1.75 lbs. It's the primary, the first one that they had out. Personally, I'd go with another TriggerTech in a heart beat.

Thanks for the responses...I'm thinking I will order a Triggertech Special to replace the stock one....I've had a member here offer to buy the factory one off me but it needs to have a bolt release for his 700 on the trigger. So the next question is if I order a Special with bolt release can I just transfer the bolt release to the stock trigger for him?

I think I just answered my own question...I pulled the stock off a 700 with a triggertech primary with bolt release and the stock off the CA without bolt release and yes all the screws and pins are the same....:)

I had Cadex, timney and triggertech and the I sold the timney and the cadex. triggertech all the way!! Plus they are Canadian!

Your cocking piece angle and depth might be the cause of the stiff trigger. Just something to look into.

I recently bought a new Bergara B14R which has the Trigger Tech primary unit. What a difference in smooth feel & let-off compared to the Timneys I've used over the years. Adjusted it down to as light as she'll go (Right close to 1.5 lbs.) and ran 300 rnds though the rifle to get acquainted with the setup & I'm liking it enough to go a few thousand rounds before installing a Trigger Tech Diamond unit to get into the low ounces pull range I prefer on a precision rifle.

Something VERY odd there Buddy ! I have 5 Trigger Tech's and they are all able to be 2 lbs or less ! Primary and Specials ! My new DIAMOND for my F class is set at 8 oz ! Are you SURE ?? RJ

I have Triggertech triggers on 5 rifles now. They are a very fine unit, indeed!
Great customer service and built here in Canada.
I set my hunting triggers at between 2.5 and 2.75 lb
Still using Jewell on competition rifles, though, since I like 4 oz on those. Dave.

I have about a dozen of each. The Triggertech is great, just put it on and adjust the pull weight. However I have a couple timneys which I had a smith tune (he posts on this site) and they are exceptional. However I see some of the new Timneys do not have the sear adjustment on them, so they would require machining or polishing over just addjustment. Nothing wrong with the older Rem 700 trigger (Walker), they can be tuned nicely.
