It's might be of interest to this discussion to note that in those parts of the world where the English Common Law has provided the basis of the legal system that all fish and wildlife are property of the Crown (or State, in places like the US) and that they are consequently a public resource and not the property of any private citizen, even when located on thier land. Some European countries treat wildlife differently, to the point in some cases of making landowners liable to any damage done to neighbouring crops and trees if they fail to control or harvest the guilty animals, and one could argue the pros and cons of either approach. That still does not however change the current situation, in which nobody here can speak of "their" deer, unless they've legally shot it in season or happen to farm some sort of exotic deer on thier land.
