Holy nuts, so about a week ago I picked up my first .22 (yay) and I went with a Savage 64. Got it home, and whoops I need an allan key and a socket wrench. Okay sure, not a problem, I am just spoiled with the easy disassembling Mosin-Nagant. All I am trying to do here is clean off the factory gunk and go to the range, but no, of course not, that would be too easy, I can get the screws for the magazine assembly off fine but the screw behind the trigger and the barrel clamp screw/nut wont budge. Not even a little. Hell I tried using a power drill to undo it, no dice. And it is not like I am trying to turn the damn things the wrong way.

I am getting to my wits end and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas before I have to take it to a gunsmith or something. Maybe I need to hit the gym or something but even the damned power tool wouldn't help. In the famous words of Charlie Brown "AAUGH!"

Mine came really hard the first time too. Make sure you are using the proper size screw driver or socket, if your bolt is a flat head make sure the screw driver fits the slot perfectly. If they still wont budge you may need to take it to a more experienced disassembler.

Tore mine down for the first time this week and that screw was hard on mine too. I just used as big of a screwdriver that would fit, ended up getting it and found that they used red locktite to keep it in place. My advice (if it helps any) grip it tight and twist hard as you can :) good luck

Heat man!!! You need heat!!! Borrow a heat gun from some buddy or if you have to, test drive one from Home Depot. Proper sized screwdriver is a "must" as well. Make one to fit with a file if you,re too "thrifty" to buy a set. Cheers

Hey guys, so I tried the heat gun and it didn't work and after I let it cool down and I pulled the trigger so I could release the spring tension and the trigger snapped off. Great. So now I have no choice but to bring it to a smith. Also I am never buying a savage again I can tell you that.

Give Savage a call or send them an email there customer service is usually very good. They should fix your gun up for free.

Thanks, I just sent the Canadian warranty contact an e-mail. When I do finally get the gun up and going, I am certainly going to name it Pyrrhus. Victory but at a cost haha.
