Ugh... dissapointed:
I was getting ready to take some pics to post when I realized that the 'Take Down' screw from the 10/22 is too long for the Troy T-22 chassis; the Troy T-22 did not include a new 'Take Down' screw. Total Crap!
I don't know if Fabsports missed this (possible as it came only in bubble wrap), or the T-22 doesn't ship with one. Either way, it sucks hard. Now I have to shop around for a friggin screw to make this $400 stock work.
Anyway, I am going to list off my immediate observations:
----------------------------------------
T-22 is roughly 1lb lighter than the SR-22 (bathroom scale measurment)
Out of the box ### appeal goes to T-22 only for the "monolithic" appearance of the rail. That's it.
The T-22 will NOT accept any aftermarket AR-15 grip with a backstrap larger than the standard grip; the milled "curve" in the T-22 chassis is not the same as an AR-15 and as a result any grip with a backstrap portion that overhands will bind and not allow for installation... huge suck factor!
The SR-22 however will accept any AR-15 grip on the market.
The T-22 ships with a Commercial buffer tube. The SR-22 ships with a Milspec buffer tube.
The T-22 cannot accept the hogue trigger-gap piece that the SR-22 wears... another big-suck as I actually bought one for the T-22. Grrrrr!
The rail portion over the receiver on the SR-22 is held in place by 4 torx screws; it's never going to move and will always stay in place. For the hardcore accuracy junkies using powerful scopes, the SR-22 will provide a solid platform.
The T-22 chassis doen not have a means to lock the receiver in place under the rail, it just floats under the rail, being held down to the lower portion of the chassis only by the take-down screw.
The T-22 is much faster to strip separate having only 2 pieces.
T-22 barrel floats, the SR-22 barrel has a barrel support block near the muzzle... different schools of thought on this; I leave it up to you to decide which is best.
The SR-22 feels like you could throw it off a building and it'd still be in one piece. the T-22 not so much.
That's it for now...
Overall, despite the fact that I cannot change the grip on the T-22, I do like its looks more than the SR-22 (only for the one-piece rail).
However, the SR-22 appears to be the more well thought out design.
If the SR-22 had a solid one-piece rail, the SR-22 would be the absolute champ! I'd buy two!
So, if the one piece rail doesn't bother you, then the SR-22 is definitely the way to go.
I also think the price I paid was quite high. I was hoping for more, but I suppose if I consider that it has flip up sights already I guess it's not all bad. I would never scope this thing.
For me the "look cool factor" is fun and I do like weight savings. I hope I will enjoy the T-22 once I get it up and running despite its shortcomings. I haven't shot it yet, so as long as the integrated flip-ups are close to zero when it's ready to go all should be well.
That's about it for now... sorry for lack of pics, too bummed to post.

Update: I was just looking over my existing take-down screw and I have determined that I can safely remove half of the theaded portion and it will then be the correct length. I will complete this tomorrow.
