TRR-SR breif review

sooo a breif update.. nothing to fancy but hell why not.

got around to trying some decent .22 ammo, i picked up some minimags for my glock .22 conversion and figured id blasth a few threw my trr-sr, and wow was i ever impressed, conditions were 8-12* light misting of rain 0-3kmh gusts, with the minimags i was consistantly shooting MOA or just sub MOA groups, im really looking forward to trying som true taget ammo.

i go rid of the tri-rail in favor of an EGW 20moa rail. much better now.

in another thread i was reading that some top level .22 shooters add brakes to gain accuracy. as with the base of the cast bullet not being 100% uniform when it leaves the muzzle the gases push it one way or another, but with adding the brake the buller leaves under momentum rather then being pushed, so there is a small gain in accuracy. i have NO idea if there is any truth to this or not BUT! i was at the victoria gun show on the weekend, and there was a fellow selling Dlask brakes for .223, low an behold he had the correct thread and brake size diamiter...

SO for the interest of looking cool and being able to stay in the primary that much better, i thought i would make use of my theaded muzzle... quite the tacticool looking longrange "boomer" now haha

ill update soon when i know if the brake really did gain me any accuracy as others have claimed

sorry about the ####ty cell pic

wasnt bad i guess, some neat stuff, a bunch of over priced stuff, and general odds and ends that would be useful if thats what your after lol

like every year all the good deals are sold to other guys that have tables befor the doors even open to the public..

but i guess if you want to pay $1375 for a used 5r its worth going hahaha cuz paying 11XX for a brandnew one would be foolish

i've been window shopping online for a bolt action .22lr for gophers and other plinkable game, and this is one of two from savage i have been mulling over (the bsev the other). i guess i won't truly know if i'll go with either until i put them into my shoulder and see how each feel, but i have always prefered a more pistol grip-ish stock with the smaller calibres.

the tri rail kinda concerned me, because i'm one of those fella's that likes big og's on my optics, and with it shown solved here it, well, no longer a huge concern. thanks for the solution all.

ultimate monkey, gun looks great, that brake puts it over the top. thanks for sharing your pics. the only problem now is, damn, i really want one!

12" gong at 200 is nothing for this little gem! in decent .22 shooting conditions i was printing 5" groups with 20+ shots at 200 and have about a 90% hit ratio at a soda can at 300ys

last weekend i was out with "Brodie69" hittin up a few longer range spots, and he can confirm i was either hitting or within inches of hitting a 10" target at approx 550yds useing this little gun while waiting for the .308s to cool down. i ran out of elivation even with the 20moa rail and my hold over was right near the bottom of my x-hairs (so kinda just guessing shot after shot trying to hold over the same amount) but i must say it was fuuny as #### to hit a target at that range with a 22

Still on backorder for me at two locations ... since spring/summer.

I guess I have to phone around again and see if anyone else got one of these in. I've been waiting too long!

Where are you guys getting the EGW 20moa rails? I just got a FV-SR last week and I want to set it up for some long distance plinking. Any thoughts on scopes?

Called and ordered - shipping Monday. THANK YOU!

Jason

No problem, glad I was able to help :)

I have ordered all of my EGW rails direct from EGW with no problems. They are easy to deal with.

i have a .17 version of the TR . absolutely love it. thinking to thread the barrel but then its kinda waste of money to spend 100 bucks to thread a barrel and buy a muzzle brake when the TRR only retails for slightly more.

the 56mm optic is kinda over kill( originally bought for a 308 rifle that was never been build) it rides on EGW 20 moa rail and weaver tacticool rings
