Truck Guns

Something compact with open sights. Any game I've taken near my truck which crossed the road or whatever has been at close range, so a long range calibre may not be needed, depending on where you hunt.

A lever's quick, but you'd have to load it first. A bolt with a detachable mag may be quicker in the end, or a single shot...
 
How about an Israeli K98 in .308? Good caliber and with a stripper clip you can load 5 rounds in a couple seconds....
The stocks on most of them are beat up anyway so you won't feel too guilty about a few more dings also.
 
a well used Ruger No1 in 30-06 would be good

compact and versatile

a fixed 4x scope would be good, and fire 180 gr. bullets

Truck gun(s)? Well, I don't own a pickup. 2 Jeeps, though. I'll likely take either my bubba'd #1MkIII (I have a Weaver K-4 to mount on it), or my Stoeger single shot 12ga, or maybe my really beat up Rem 742 jamomatic in 30-06, or... yes! I've got it!
My Jeep gun will be:
My Sako L579 in .308! It's pretty beat up on the outside but the guts are good! ;)
 
My truck gun is a 99 Sav in a 250 -3000. Has a Williams peep on her and is a perfect truck gun as it is not too big and will reach out to a couple of hundred yds on bigger animals.

Actually what I use for a truck/quad gun is a Savage 340 in dirty thirty. It's been given some kind of bedliner treatment, at least that's what i think it is. Nice small rifle for bouncing around and enough to knock down game at closer ranges. It's just equipped with open sights, no scope.
 
My truck gun is a Stevens 200 in 30-06 with a Bushnell Scopechief 3x9 scope I had lying around.

I loaded up 180gr Accubonds at about 2760fps. Should be good for anythign I may use this rifle for.

My truck gun is a Rem M7 LSS 260 Rem w/Leupold 4x Matte in Talley LW's

Pack it daily for coyote, woof, bear, moose, mulies, whitetail, moose..... and rabid armadillo.

She'll look like a real rifle once Gatehouse works his magic on the tupperware stock!
 
Well the only use I would have for a truck gun is the odd yote in a field some where in the country, or a animal that got hit on the highway.
My choice would be a nice cheap 10/22 with iron sights.

It's from the clear coat. Invert spray can, spray until no paint is flowing, to clean the nozzle. makes a puddle.

Get your mind outof the gutter....;)
