Trudeau and Blair BAN 12 Gauge and 10 Gauge SHOTGUNS!

the chamber, forcing cone, and choke are not part of the bore.
Bores are generally between 18.4. - 18.7 mm.... And will be stamped on the barrel in metric/imperial units.
Please stop spreading misinformation...you’re making gun owners look bad.

get out of here with your facts

This is so far from correct. But i guess by your standards all I have to do then is write 18.4 on a above 20mm bore and I'd be legal... Ya that's not how that works.

Someone posted on one of these threads (cut and paste) the actual way to measure shotgun bore diameter right from the firearms act and it did in fact say to measure without removable chokes installed... so according to that and the wording in the OIC, it is in fact a real problem...

If you have a choke that screws into the end of your barrel, the assumption is that the threads will be enough to put the firearm over 20mm. At least that is my understanding but I'm uncertain whether those threads will make up 1.5mm. Seems to be a stretch but I'll maybe check my Winchester later today with a tape.

The threaded choke area shouldn’t be considered the bore...

Thank you!Thk:cheers::shotgun:

It is absolutely terrifying that so many in this thread are agreeing with blair who knows nothing about firearms and is taking them away from you to use as a political wedge issue and not Ed who is an actual firearms lawyer... LOL

I'm shocked people are taking him at his word. The amount of cognitive dissonance needed to take his twitter or Facebook post as the law, instead of reading the law is astounding.

Not shocked here. Just disappointed. Those types are out there, and able to own firearms as well. They belong to the same group that will smirk at this ban, saying there's no need for firearm type "A". Only the ones they own, firearm type "B" are necessary. Somehow convincing themselves there's a big enough difference that their personal property and way of life is safe, which is all that matters to them. Completely ignorant of the big picture and failing to see we're one group.

Failing to see we're looked at as one group by most politicians and our general public.

Failing to see if our liberal government gets it's way, we'll be treated all the same. One group. Zero firearms.

This 20mm issue is the best part of the OIC so far. Sitting back and watching the realization dawn on some people that they might also be targeted has been priceless. If the only way to wake them up to what's going on takes an attack on their personal property as well then so be it. Now we can be unified and make a difference when all of us want the same thing.

Let some of us fight about it for a while. The more talk of it the better. It looks like even the RCMP will have to enforce this technicality and are going to help with this one.

There were approx 20-22 shotguns put up for sale yesterday on the exchange. 14-15 on the 4th. 10-11 on the 3rd. Apparently the sky is falling. Fudds be like waiting for that minty Browning to get listed by a panic stricken ninny.
It almost looks like a lot of posters on this thread want the 12 gauge to be banned.

Any idea how many shotguns will be affected by this? The number of firearms affected in terms of actual physical shotguns in Canada is going to be astronomical.

Billions of dollars lol.

This is actually great new for us.

1. Gets all firearms owners united as everyone has a 12g shotgun.
2. Shows how rushed and poorly drafted this tyrannical regulation is.
3. Will increase the cost of a buyback well beyond what anyone can stomach even in the left wing media.

Agreed, regardless of how it plays out.

Pick your favourite choke size fellas, and weld it in. Or, is it legal to cut the threaded choke portion off the barrel, as longs as it meets minimum length requirements? I realize that someone may not want to bugger up a really expensive collector/skeet gun. Its just a thought.

The thought of Claybuster and his kind taking a hacksaw to their fancy o/u’s makes me chuckle a bit, but as already stated modifying an already prohibited device changes nothing. Welcome to the fold boys and girls, were all in this together now.

Just wait till they unveil the handgun ban and new central storage requirements to remove the rest of your hunting guns from your homes, after all we’re all just wife beaters in waiting and if not being allowed to have a gun at home prevents just one case of domestic violence then it’s something we should get behind.

Not that I believe anything that the Liberals have to say they are a bunch of out right 2 faced liars, and not a few but all. So I contacted the CFO today to ask about the 12 gauge and 10 gauge being on the prohibited list under the 20mm bore ban. The woman Carrie that answered let me know that the 12 gauge and 10 gauge are not considered to be on the banned list. She was very nice answered a slew of my questions and even admitted that the CFO is still in the dark on a lot of these issues as the government did everything last minute. She also informed me in the next few weeks all PAL and RPAL holders will receive letters letting them know of the exact changes to the system. I did ask if these letters would be sent to the criminals as well and she kind of laughed and said if only that was possible. Anyway I still await the letter from the CFO so as not to be caught up in some legal bull shyt when I’m out with the 12 gauge. Good bye spring turkey. Hope this helps a little.

Well I'm certainly not trying to make anyone look bad, I read the CSSA legal opinion and had to check it for myself. The choke being the narrow part, I thought it would be a good idea to check it for myself with a tool used for just that. I didn't think that was misinformation as i do trust the CSSA being a member. And I'll certainly trust calipers...

Have your read the CSSA legal opinion?

Just because Blair says it wasnt the intent to ban 10nand 12 gauge shotguns, it would not stop them from using the wording however they choose to in the future.

Read the CSSA legal opinion BY A LAWYER and I'd say a good one. Good luck with those 12 bores..it must burn all those shotgunners that perpetually vote Liberal. Hopefully the fudds will get behind we mall cops (I'm actually both a fudd and mall cop) and support this action because you are next.
