Do you prefer police offices who pick and choose which laws to enforce and which not to?
Well they claim that they do this right now.
Plus posters claiming that their discretion was the only thing that kept citizens from being arrested for a myriad of petty infractions every time they walked out the door.
And threatening us that this could change etc etc blah blah blah.
Random aggressive behavours in a chaotic structure without set enforced norms do not make friends as recent statistics of police suicides show.
First they rake it one way.....then back again.
I wonder has there been any recent survey as to the percentage of the Canadian public that has respect for law enforcement?
That does not come from the public but is created by the parties that require it if they care or are interested in doing so.
Often the situations they are placed in make it impossible as they are not ones that the police are designed to handle and should be infrequent while
the problems in society are making them every day experiences. That does not help but to fix this we need a government that does more than
make excuses and try to find sunny sounding ways without doing any of the hard expensive work needed to address the problems.
so they send the police.
Like overcrowding in hospitals is dealt with by security. Not by funding the medical services so the emerg room does not look like the west bank during an Israeli bombardment.
So police and security must menace the sick and their distressed loved ones while they wait hours having trouble breathing but are supposed to wait quietly for their underfunded turn at emergency medical attention.
Respect for Law Enforcement would be interesting to track as there does not appear to be any factors in our society that does not create contempt for it and everything else.
A sign of a system out of equilibrium. That creates a cycle where the things eventually shakes apart and disintegrates. It comes from the top not the bottom.
If there is a plan nobody seems to want to share it.
