Well as my last post went the way of the Do-Do bird I am gonna try this with a different approach as my subject went the wrong direction.
How can we improve hunting ethics and safety out in our everyday hobby that we enjoy?
Myself, I have changed hunting tactics to try and take myself away from the increased hunter activity both legal and not.
In too many cases I have witnessed or directly known some that have been effected by hunters with poor ethics and concerns for safety. House, property and humans even being shot as a result.
For most of us we enjoy the peace and quiet of getting out and away from our everyday lives, that is why we do it, Safeway is still cheaper than hunting.
The individuals who just decide to purchase a weapon and start hunting for the sake of killing something are not helping with hunters images in the eyes of land owners and animals rights activist, etc.............
So, how do we improve the situation??
Here is my best example of what is going on(condensed version). Two years ago an individual that knows a friend of mine was shot in the head with a .22 . He was hunting geese and another individual on a motorized unit shot into his decoys and striking him in the head.
There we so many safety measures ignored it isn't even funny.
There was no compensation for the injured and the shooter has been cleared at this point of wrong doing.
The gentleman now suffers from some nasty medical issues and is no longer able to work.
THIS my friends is the stuff I am talking about. Not how you hunt or how you harvest an animal but how some have total disregard for anything but themselves and others safety.
